Name: Rootbeer Float AKA Rootie by most everyone.
Age: 21
Type: Sunny Scent Pegasi
Symbol: Rootie's symbol is a mug filled with rootbeer, with ice cream scoops at the top. Rootbeer fizz trickles down the left and right side of the mug. A hot pink bendy straw can be seen on the right side of the mug. This is all on her right side.
Colors: Rootie is dark chocolate in color with light caramel colored hair. She also has a hot pink heart on her right hoove.
Hairstyle: Rootie has always had beautiful soft, caramel colored baby doll curls. For the longest time, she had kept them short and around her face, but after she left Ponyville she grew her out. Now her hair always reaches the ground, and is in donkey eared pigtails, held together by two hot pink bows.
Her tail is one large spiral curl(reaching the ground), with a hot pink bow at it's base.
Eyes: Hot pink.
Other: Rootie has soft caramel freckles that play across her cheeks.
Powers: Since she is a sunny scent pony, she always smells of rootbeer..But, she has one more 'power' that she hasn't always had.
While going through rehabilitation for her drug addiction, she travelled all of Ponyland trying to rid herself of this demon she had required. Finally, after struggling, and struggling she travelled to Flutter Valley. She knew as soon as she got there, this is where she would change.
After several months of detox she encountered queen Rose Dust. Rose Dust saw something in Rootbeer Float that she had never seen in another pony out of the Flutter pony species.
Queen Rose Dust compared her to a poppy flower. In the beggining of Rootie's life, she was like any other flower, just a bud. Rootie was un-sure of herself, and didn't know what she would become, but finally one day she realised who she was, and she sprouted into a beautiful poppy flower. Then, something frightened her, that caused her to close up. The same thing that poppy flowers do when frightened. Queen Rose Dust told Rootie that she would teach her the way to be a beautiful poppy flower, but, to never close up again.
Queen Rose Dust worked as a great supporter. She listened to Rootie's problems, and with her wisdom she told her ways to solve those problems, and how Rootie could also better herself.
Then, one day Rootie was ready to live Flutter Valley, and Queen Rose Dust asked her a question. Had Rootie really made herself a better pony? Rootie, feeling more alive, and in touch with herself than she ever had before answered yes. But, Queen Rose Dust knew there was one other thing that Rootie could do to become a better pony, and from there she taught Rootie the magical ability to, "Utter Flutter".
Most ponies believe that the Utter Flutter is just something you're born with if you're a Flutter pony, but what they don't know is that it can be taught, can be acquired. But, it doesn't take just a few small steps to learn it, it takes several large leaps, and Rootie had almost made it the whole way there. She just needed one more big leap, and she would acquire the ability.
So, for the first time in pony history, another pony, outside of the Flutter species could now have the ability to Utter Flutter.
Personality: Rootie used to be a ditzy, bubbly, cheerful pony that thought the world was always on your side.
Not anymore. But, not in a bad way. She's still caring, and an all around good pony, but she doesn't have that same carefree attitude. She has learned through her misfortune that everything's not always rainbows and butterflies, that you can't always expect everyone to understand you, to love you.
In a way, you can say she's matured. She's matured alot, and now she's beyond her years. She doesn't laugh at the same immature jokes anymore, a smile doesn't cross her face when a butterfly plays across her face, because she knows that one day that butterfly will die, and her smile would have done nothing to better herself, or the butterfly.
Now, Rootie's personality is more like a butterfly in it's cacoon. On the inside, beautiful, sweet, and loving, but on the outside she shows another personality, but you still know that on the inside there is something beautiful, and when the time is right, that beauty will show.
History: Rootbeer Float, born and raised in Ponyville, the daughter of the original Rootbeer Float. Rootbeer Float senior was a Dream Valley native, a pink Dream Valley native. She was a wild pony, she was frisky, and she loved stallions, too much maybe. Even before she was born Ponyville had started to prosper, and grow, and her thirst for more stallions intensified once she decided to visit Ponyville.
Upon entering Ponyville Rootbeer Float was amazed, she had never seen so many lights, and buildings before, the place was beautiful. But nothing compared to him. He was different from all the other ponies around, after all, he was brown, he was a rich brown. His name was Choclate Truffles, and he was perfect. They dated, and she pulled her old tricks, but this time, she got pregnant. She didn't want to be pregnant, but Choclate Truffles did, he wanted a family, so she decided to keep the young foal. That was, until she gave birth to it. It wasn't anything like her, it was brown, and to top it off, it was a Ponyville pony, only one symbol! She couldn't believe it, and she dashed off to live in Frienship Gardens, leaving her daughter behind.
Rootbeer Float grew up in Ponyville always being the different pony. Sure, her father was different, too, he was brown also, but he didn't go threw what she went threw. She was made fun of day in and day out because of her color, or because of her ditzy-ness. All the trashing and name calling didn't stop her from becoming friends with Irish Creme though, Irish Creme was different, she was smart, and nice, and she knew exactly what to say! Irish Creme and Rootbeer Float became the best of friends, and desired to open their own business together one day.
Finally, after all the name calling, they accomplished their goal, and opened their own business.
(NEW HISTORY BEGINNING..NOW!!)
That was almost two years ago. Since then she's changed, and so has the world around it. For a long time, Ponyville was a peaceful place, a place where everything was perfect. Then, strange things started to happen, buildings began to burn, and for the first time ever, Ponyville wreaked with negative energy. Soon, ponies were being murdered, things were changing, and not for the better.
So, Rootie did what she thought she should have done, go look for Megan, like Firefly had when things started to go awry in Dream Valley, but, instead of finding Megan, she found her daughter, Arianna. Arianna was full of good energy, she was full of light.
Rootie brought Arianna back to Ponyville in hopes that she would change it, but everything just kept getting worse, then one night, Rootsie Tootsie's Ice Cream Shoppe burnt down. This was Rootie's cracking point. Things became even crazier, and then finally the castle was demolished, along with Irish Creme, and her's relationship.
Irish Creme rebuilt Rootsie Tootsie's Ice Cream Shoppe with the money she had earned over the two years as co-owner, but changed it's name to Novel Ideas, and made it into a book and coffee shop. That's when things became un-easy. Rootie and Irish Creme faught, and argued. After all, Irish Creme created a new business that had had nothing to do with the old one, and she did it with full ownership. She had not involved Rootie in any way.
Finally, Arianna begged to be taken back home, she could not stand to be in the middle of a giant controversy. Rootie took her home, and when she returned, Irish Creme and her never spoke to eachother again.
When Rootie, and Irish Creme first stopped talking they didn't want to, but neither of them were big enough to apologies for the hurtful things that they had said. But, one day Irish Creme was going to be the bigger pony, and apologies, after all, she was the reason why they had stopped talking.
One night as Irish Creme began to close the door she decided that afterwards she would go apologise to Rootie for what she had said and done. After all, they would have never faught if she had not opened this store. So, after cleaning out the coffee pots, and re-arranging all the books she began to sweap the floor. As she began to sweep, tears drops hit the floor but
(The next part of Rootie's past is actually from the post I wrote where Irish Creme was killed.)
she continued sweeping, until she heard something. It sounded like it was upstairs. "Hm?" She said to herself. It sounded like something was wlaking around. Well, not walking, but, stalking. it was eerily sounding. "He-Hello?" She muttered out softly. The rustling stopped, almost as it was listening. What was it looking for? She was scared, too scared to move.
She thought it was like a scary movie, but she wasn't stupid enough to go upstairs and find out what it was. Terror struck her body, as a loud boom was heard. No, it wasn't a boom, it was a crash, something had broke. Irish Creme felt, alone, trapped, something had invaded her home, she wasn't safe. She dropped the broom, and ran to the phone behind the counter. She picked it up. Silence. It was dead.
She heard the running stop, it had reached the stop of the stairs, she heard it come bustling down, she ran to the door, slammed and locked it. It rattled the door knob. She backed away, gasping. She walked slowly to the main entrance door.
Boom. The lights went off, everything was silent. The ratting stopped. But something else started in, fear, anxiety. She stopped. She breathed heavily, she was frozen, she couldn't move, she couldn't.
Whatever it was, it was right behind her. She could feel it's hot, sticky breath right on her.
And then, something wrapped itself around Irish Creme's neck, it tightend, cutting off her breathing. It pulled her up, up into mid air, choking and strangling her. She couldn't breathe, and worst of all, she couldn't use her powers, she just couldn't she tried, and she tried. She pulled at whatever was around her neck. She discovered it was rope, she tried to break, it, tried to rip it.
She was feeling light headed, she could barely breathe anymore, actually she couldn't breathe anymore, but still for a moment, she was still concious, able to see, and on the ground, was the worst thing she had ever seen. Everything dark, and evil in this world. It was..It was..(The last bit of the Dark Rainbow that remained in Ponyville at the time.)
And the last thing heard in that coffee shop, was a very loud..
Crack
Two weeks went by, and Rootie couldn't stand it anymore, and she knew Irish Creme couldn't either, she clearly knew that Irish Creme was depressed, after all the store had been closed for two weeks. So, the next day she travelled to the coffee shop, and even though the door was locked, she broke into the coffee shop, and when she did she found her best friend hanging from one of the rafters with a noose around her neck. Irish Creme had been dead.
After Irish Creme's funeral Rootie knew that she would be the one to take care of ths shop, and just two days after Irish Creme's funeral, something else hit her hard. Rootbeer Float senior finally returned to Ponyville to find her daughter. With her came Rootie's half sister Soda Pop.
Things were fine, they bonded, and they Rootie found out things about her mother and sister that she would have never dreamt of. She thought things would be better, but, she was wrong. Soon afterward her mother had left, leaving her half sister behind to live with Rootie, the depression came back. Rootie couldn't be in the store for more than five minutes without having a panic attic. Finally she was prescribed anti-depressants, but that wasn't the best plan for Rootie. She became addicted to them, and left her sister to run the store by herself, finally, after weeks of addiction, Soda Pop made Rootie close the door, and seek help.
Rootie travelled everywhere in Ponyville to find a way to beat her addiction, finally she reached Flutter Valley, and became a changed pony. After spending almost a year and a half in Flutter Valley, she decided to move back to Ponyville, and start her life over again. And, this is where she begins again..
