(con. from Champion thread)
The walk wasn't long or strenuous by any means. However, Peri was tired, both physically and mentally. Sleep sounded just about right then, but the actor wasn't a fool. He knew very well that it was likely sleep would elude him this night from the absence of his beloved Jewel.
A sneeze reverberated from his nose as he came to a brief halt at the balloon's store's fenced in lot. Sniffles followed as he tickled his nose with his hoof. Probably all the pollen in the area, he noted.
Satisfied with his nose, Peri continued on his way in, right eye hunting down a floor worker.

When Peri sneezed, a small pang resonated from the peg's core. Without coaxing, the vision of the ill Peri rose again to the surface of her mind.
Not wanting to give it another thought, and hesitant to look at the one she loved, Jewel simply kept her gaze to the ground, following the white hooves of the actor into the store.
((I'll make up a temp, since there's no official balloon store anyway..))
A yellow mare with orange-red hair and a balloon-and-cloud symbol approached the couple with a an evident bouncy step.
"Hi there, can I help you?" She asked, in a high-pitched, nearly squeaky voice. Jewel flicked an ear.
"We need a hot-air balloon, one that can fit about 7-8 ponies in it, and one that can get us quickly to Dream Valley," The pegasus explained, putting a bit of urgency into her voice. "The balloon is for the Rainbow's Champions," She added softly, not wishing to draw undesired attention to the fact.

(If you didn't I would've.)
"You don't say.," the floor worked clicked her tongue, whether in excitement or just from hyper energy was anyone's guess. Her hoof was waved out in a very wide gesture. "As you can see, our floor models are mostly two to three seaters, but I'll check out stock."
With that she scuttled eastward, where a warehouse was established.
Peri looked back to Jewel at that time and offered the best smile he could muster, though it was still clearly evident he had been crying some time earlier. Seeing the expression of avoidance on her face, the white stallion filled the waiting gap by looking at some of the floor models.
After ten minutes, the worked returned gesturing them to follow. Peri Winkle began to walk after the other, listening as she began to speak. "You're in luck, we've got two back in stock. Not many order those out, so you can have the pick of the two."

"You're in luck, we've got two back in stock. Not many order those out, so you can have the pick of the two."
Jewel and Peri followed the energetic balloon store worker to the back of the store, where their gaze fell upon two large balloons with baskets able to accomodate the number needed. The pegasus knew she wouldn't be in that balloon.. she had wings, and she sought to use them!
"That one will do," The indigo champion nodded to the balloon with the rainbow-like motif. Or at least what looked like one from its place on the ground. That and, it seemed to be either that one or one that was predominantly pink. Behold, Dream Valley, the Rainbow's Champions in their.. big pink balloon? No.

"Then I guess the lady's made her choice," Peri chuckled to the mare, "We'll rent it out."
She nodded rather enthusiastically. "This way please, sir." She sauntered off to a counter with a case register, to which Peri followed. Once there a form was handed to him to fill. The actor promptly put the rent out in his name, and contacting information should it come up missing. With that, he paid for it and looked back to Jewel.
"We can take it when ever the others get here."
(this is of course assuming that we can move it outside and that the balloon has all ready been filled with air/fills quickly.)

The pegasus nuzzled Peri's neck in appreciation for the gesture of handing the financial end of things. She'd make sure to find some way in her upcoming travels to repay him. It only felt right.
"We can take it when ever the others get here."
"Then you might want to get it ready now--that's a BIG balloon, sir!" The perky salespony laughed good-naturedly. "I'm sure between the three of us, we could get it outside to the launch site. It should take less than 15 minues or so, but still, you should be ready when the rest of you champs get here!" The mare had enthusiasm sparkling in her eyes, and felt a sense of honor to essentially be helping the Rainbow.
"You up for that, dear?" Jewel asked quietly with concern. She felt Peri's exhaustion, even if it was mostly emotionally. As the mare began walking back toward the large balloon, Jewel nearly whispered, "I don't want you to waste your energy.. soon enough you may need all the strength you can muster," She continued, as if her mouth were on autopilot from her heart, "If for no one else, you need to be strong for me. I can't seem to tell you that enough."

Peri looked at her as Jewel said these things into his ear. At that moment, it went over him that she was technically making reference to her vision pertaining to the sick.
"Uh," he thought a moment, "Yeah, I'm good for it." He flexed some muscles, not nearly the size of most stallions, but there all the same. "We'll get things situated in no time. You don't suppose you guys will need food for the trip?"
He lifted his head a moment in search of a vending machine, but quickly gave it up. "This thing'll be airborne in no time."
With that he followed their jubilant helper towards the balloon and began to assist in the moving.

"Oh, no.. I don't think so. Dream Valley isn't far from here, and I'm sure the ship will be stocked before we get there.." The pegasus replied.
"Alllrighty!" The balloonist stamped a hoof from her place near the top of the balloon canvas, "If you, sir, can grab that side, and you, miss, can take this side, we'll just ease it out onto the platform out here."
Jewel and Peri assisted in dragging out the large hot-air balloon until the basket lay upright in the center of a large solid platform. The employee tied multiple restraining ropes to hooks driven far into the hard rock of the platform, so that the balloon wouldn't drift away on its own. Climbing inside, she readied the vessel.

(Continued from "At the fountain.")
Ice Crystal continued alongside Kimono, listening with interest to his comments. Every so often his sapphire eyes would lock onto a particular sign or colour with ripe awe. Thereafter, he would softly nod as to clear his eyes of a loose white tendril.
"Ah," Ice Crystal chuckled softly at his mistake, now caught.
"I apologize," he confided, "I'm still getting a bit used to things around here ..."
He paused upon setting sights upon the Rainbow-influenced balloon.

Peri Winkle let a whoosh of air leave his chest as he released his hold on the hot air balloon. With it being large enough to carry more than three individuals, it was certainly more of a hassle to move.
His eye darted down to the necklace around his neck as the sun glinted upon it's surface. It made him smile, regardless for the reason why such an item was in his possession. Peri just felt privileged and down right loved by Jewel. She had every intention of coming back for this, despite the severity and reason behind her leaving. Peri just had to make sure he survived whatever sickness Jewel was fearful of spreading.
The white stallion wiped the sweat from his brow as he gazed back up to smile back towards the yellow peg. As he did so, his eye to take notice of Kimono coming along the way with another fine gent.
It had been a while since he'd seen the stallion, but since the battle between the gods, Peri couldn't help but felt some form of underlying kinship with him. They'd both been in a way and survived. He'd watched him mourn, for Rainbow's sakes, he a grown stallion. Kimono was a good stallion, there was no doubt.
"HEY!," Peri shouted out to him, before placing a hoof to his mouth and whistled for both stallions attentions. Then he waved a white hoof exuberantly to pull them over. "Come watch something historical! The Rainbow's Champions embark on a great adventure!"

"I apologize," he confided, "I'm still getting a bit used to things around here ..."
"Oh, no need for apologies," Kimono smiled briefly, "I'm sure you'll get acquainted with this place sooner than you think." Although when Kimono had first set hoof in Ponyville, in the beginning of its populating, there wasn't much to become familiar with. The purple stallion sneezed, then rubbed his eyes against a foreleg. He decided to continue what he had been saying, "From what I saw, there are three female and three male Champions, in case you were curious. There's one now."
"HEY!,"
Kimono smiled slightly and turned his head toward Ice before walking up to the white stallion, his battle comrade.
"Come watch something historical! The Rainbow's Champions embark on a great adventure!"
"I was hoping to see them off," The emerald-eyed stallion replied as he neared Peri Winkle. Nearby, Jewel chuckled over the actor's dramatics. The golden pegasus made her way over to the stallions, joining Peri by his side.
"Peri," Kimono cleared his throat, then gestured to Ice, "This is Ice Crystal.. we just met at the Square, where some filly was ranting about the Apocalypse," The purple stallion laughed softly, then covered his mouth with his hoof as he coughed. Jewel said nothing, simply looking up at Peri with a concerned frown.
"The sooner you Champs find.. or fix.. what's awry here," He sniffled, "the better." He paused for a moment, losing his train of thought temporarily. "Oh, Ice Crystal.. this is Jewel, she's the.. indigo stripe?" The sentence was left partially as a quesiton, as most of Kimono's knowledge of the situation had been gathered from vague observations and nearby conversation.
"Yes," The purple-eyed pegasus nodded, "It's nice to meet you, Ice."

"Good to see you around," Peri nodded to him with a smug smile. He placed a friendly hoof to Kimono's shoulder and shook it in what might have been considered an open ended hug.
"And you--," Peri stated, turning his attention to the mint green stallion. He offered out a hoof and shook his with as good a grip as he could muster. "I'm Ponyville's resident soap star and cyclops."
He winked his glass eye for dramatic affect. "But everyone knows me as Peri. Welcome to the loony bin."
Surprisingly, the warm attitude seemed to roll through and off him with ease. It may very well have been that focusing on the other stallions was acting as a diversion for the nearing event.
Smiling, he glanced back to Kimono. "So what's been shak'n? I haven't seen much of you lately."

"Good to see you around,"
"Likewise," The purple stallion smiled, returning Peri's gesture. If he had any friends in this town, Peri would be the one. While the two ponies didn't go back very far, the experiences they did share were those they wouldn't find in common with many others.
Kimono still felt slightly odd seeing Jewel again. After witnessing her death, he had never expected to see her such as she was now. He respected her greatly in many facets, the most of which he had witnessed was her history in battle. But something was different... it didn't take the detail-oriented stallion long to notice that the amulet had switched owners. It wasn't something he wanted to draw attention to at the moment.. he was sure he'd have time to ask Peri later.
"I'm Ponyville's resident soap star and cyclops."
Kimono chuckled lightly, then coughed a few times. It was hard not to smile around Peri, charismatic as he was. Jewel, however, barely heard a word he said. She was looking calmly into the distance. The peg had felt what she thought was the other stripes coming closer to them. Focusing on the power she had been given, Jewel's eyes glazed slightly as she sought the future.
Yes, they must be coming. In her mind's eye, she beheld the group of them, the Rainbow's Champions with the infamous theif in company. They were setting sail in the balloon, and the peg saw herself flying alongside, Peri's white form shrinking below..
Curious to test her perception, the pegasus stepped toward Peri, and pressed her cheek to the amulet hanging around his neck. She closed her eyes, and the stone began to hum, turning warm to the touch. Her mind's eye found all of the stripes' colors, even a faint splash of Kail's green. They were near.
"So what's been shak'n? I haven't seen much of you lately."
"Not too much," the purple stallion replied, "I just haven't been feeling too well." He sniffled, and blinked hard. "I've been working on the compilation of Ponyville's history, perusing some old writings... the usual."

[[cont. from the castle]]
Hollow trotted to the balloons first, moving with airy, eager steps. He wanted to get going already, he was painfully conscious of every lost minute. He frowned slightly when he saw more ponies than he had expected over at the balloon Peri and Jewel had got for them. He tossed his tail and his mane as he stopped near the purple stallion and the pale mint green stallion, both of whom he didn't know. But his eyes were on Jewel.
"Are we ready to go?" were his first words. He was keeping his mind strictly on the mission.

"'Allo gang! If three's a crowd, we've got a positive circus going on.
"So what's the master plan?" Roxanne continued, looking around and realizing that all the champions were finally gathered in one place, save Kail. "Are we supposed to trust this cherry-picker?" And she nodded her chin towards the balloon.
