After leaving Roxy, he had made his way out of town. As cobblestone streets disappeared from his view, long dirt paths emerged. His body relaxed as he walked along the dusty road that led to the river.
His heart soared as he neared, listening; every listening to the water as it rushed in surges about his home. Even when it was quiet and motionless to others, it still spoke to him. It always had.
How he ached to be aboard his boat already. Nothing could compare to it. The rocking motion would soon lull him to sleep. As though in anticipation his body relaxed farther. All he would need to do when he boarded his home was lay down and he would be fast asleep.
As the boat came into view, he smiled. Before he even realized it he was leaping over the rail. Without a thought to anything else, he collapsed on the deck to sleep. Drinking in the smells, and listening to the water lap about the boat, sleep claimed him, and so he slept until late morning.
Awaking later than usual, he stretched this way and that. Loosing any kinks from his joints. Leaning against the rail he stared out at the water.
Settle here? I must be out of my mind. There's still so much to see.
Eyes never once wavered as he stared intently at the clear blue water that rippled as it continued on its way.
I should be following it. He thought, I've always gone with it. How can I not now?
Breaking away from his thoughts he tore his gaze away from the water.

Roxy's probably started cleaning. I should get going. Don't want to be too later.
Leaping over the rail he began to walk to town. Taking note of an apple tree along the way. He stopped just long enough to pluck a bright red apple from the tree. Munching on it, he continued on his way. Just as he finished the apple, he entered the busy town. Tossing the apple into a nearby waste basket he headed towards the theater.
(Continued at Center Stage.)
