"Yes, yes!" Razz said. "That's her! Wow! You've led us right to her. Butterscotch, you're a genius. I shall have to take you treasure-hunting with me." Then with a big smile, he strode forward to greet Silverfall and her companion. "Come on, let's have a chat."
Silverfall watched their approach with cool indifference. "Hello, Razzaroo," she said stiffly, then seeing his gaze turn to the pony beside her, she added, "This is Paradise." Turning to the white pegasus, she said, "Paradise, this is Razzaroo... and his friend."
"Hello," Razz said. "This is Butterscotch. Oh, and Butterscotch, this is Silverfall. There, I think we all know each other now."
Then a tri-colored dog ran up and barked at Razz's feet. "Oh," Razz said. "I almost forgot! Butterscotch, this is Bandit."
Bandit sat and raised his paw in greeting.

"A genius... I am? I mean, uh, of course I am! I had this planned all along!" Butterscotch beamed. Unfortunately, she was a terrible liar. "Sorta... Er, nice to finally meet you after hearing so much about you, Silverfall. And Paradise, is it?" Butterscotch dipped her head in greeting, "We can't forget about Bandit either, can we? A pleasure to meet you all."
"Ah-HAH! It's just as I planned," I shouted triumphantly. "From what Razzaroo told me, I could tell Silverfall would want to visit Razz's fallen balloon... but why? She enjoyed solitude, and what better place to find it than in midair?" I paused, until the gasps of awe and utterings of, "Butterscotch, you're amazing!" had died down. "Looks like this case is closed."

(before Razz bursts through trees)"Uh, I think I'll head to town with you, it getting a little chilly."
(after)"Yup I'm Paradise. But if you're in a hurry and need to say my name really fast, just callme Par. Nice meeting you both.

"Par," Razz tilted his head, testing the name. "Nice to meet you, Par! I think Paradise is a really nice name, too. It reminds me of squishy sand under my hooves. All sunshiny yellow and blue like the water and orange like a big goldfish...I'm not sure why they don't just call it an orangefish?"
"What?" he asked as everyone stared at him.
"Razz, have you come straight from town?" Silverfall interrupted. "Has anything happened?
"Well, you left my shop and then I went out looking for you. I ran into Butterscotch and then we came here."
"We have to go back," Silverfall said. "More trouble is brewing."
"Oh." Razz looked a bit depressed. "OK." Then, "But wait!" He trotted up to the basket of the sky balloon, dangling from the trees upside-down. Rearing back on his haunches to raise himself, he hit the top of a compartment built into the side of the basket with his nose. Down came an old, worn satchel. It was actually quite feminine, with large yellow and orange flowers embroidered on the flap. Around these were the decorations of small green leaves.
"It belonged to my mother," Razz explained, lifting open the flap. "She used it on all of her adventures. They returned it to me after...after she went missing. It's got a compass and a journal, and stuff like that...you never know it might come in handy. Oh!" He dropped a giant gob of crusty goo wrapped in pink cellophane onto the ground. "Yuck, one of Cotton Candy's breakfast muffins. Forgot about that." He slung the satchel around his neck. "OK, I'm ready to go if you guys are."

"Trouble is brewing? What do you mean? Did I miss anything important?" Butterscotch tilted her head with each question, first one way, then another. It made her look rather squirrel-like. "I hope I can help with whatever it is... It's not too bad, is it?" When there was even a remote chance for a big mystery, the sleuth in her easily got carried away.
I had solved a case mere moments ago, and now this? What was going on in Ponyville? Was my hometown being attacked by some sort of plauge? Or was somebody's cat stuck in a tree? So many unanswered questions...

"Oh, Razzaroo," Silverfall said. "Haven't you been filling your friend in on the recent events in Ponyville?"
"Well," said Razz. "Only as much as I know. You left in such a hurry. I never got to ask you about what you were so afraid of."
"I was never afraid," Silverfall said, crossly.
"Concerned about, then. Will you tell us now?"
"Yes, as we walk," Silverfall started down the trail. But she was silent a good, long while until they had broken through the forest and onto the open plains of the Outer Edges.
"To explain, I must first explain myself." She took a deep breath, then strode forward into the meadow wheat. "I am a Darklander. My bloodlines have given me many gifts, some of which put a great fear into others. In particular, I have the ability to sense darkness, to command and call it even, but I have, as many Darklanders have chosen, only to recognize that the power lies within me as opposed to openly using it."
"Rather," she continued, "I bide my own time learning the great mysteries of the world, the wisdom of which then allows me to use these powers in proper form. But there are those of us that are impatient, drawn into these powers too young and without enlightement. This is how we become tainted and evil. We fall into the deep well of darkness, immersed in terrible power, consumed by it without ever realizing there is no hope of escape. Such foolishness brings our early demise."
The group had just reached a rise in the hill, where at the top, the could see the whole of Ponyville laid out below the castle. There was still a smoky haze over the town from the fires.
"In our long history, those of us who have fallen prey to power have brought many terrible things into the world." Silverfall looked at Butterscotch. "Some of those things are lurking in Ponyville now... and we must find ways to stop them."
(I gotta go out... be back tonight... and then we'll move right into Ponyville and join the goings-ons there?)

((Certainly!)) Butterscotch was amazed. She would definitely have to write that speech down sometime, if Silverfall allowed her. It would make a great prologue! But there was no time for planning out a novel now, if there really were evil ponies in Ponyville. "Who are these ponies, then? Have any of my friends turned evil while I was away, or are these newcomers...?" She stared at the ground thoughtfully. (Continued at Ponyville, then, I reckon. Yee ha. Edit: Which board's action will we be joining? The really only active board is between Tristan and Dash, and I doubt they'll want to be interrupted. )

Silverfall nodded, breathing out another heavy sigh. "I'm not entirely sure who the enemy is. I suspect several characters. First there is Glayse, a handsome orange stallion..."
"But he was helping us." Razz stamped his hoof.
"And a mysterious green mare, of whom Glayse has made an aquaintance, has he not?" Silverfall asked, staring Razz down. "And who is this red mare you spoke of? A red unicorn? The one Glayse supposedly healed?"
Razz stamped again, but said nothing.
"Those are the three I would like to question more. I imagine they are new to Ponyville, but I'm not sure. I'm a newcomer myself, so I don't know everyone. I imagine there will be those who will question my own motives, too, especially with my heritage being as it is." She looked away, but held herself.
Razzaroo nudged Silverfall with his shoulder then, very gently, almost as a reassurance. "But what will we do once we get back to town? Where do we start? What do we do?"
"I don't know," Silverfall said. "I doubt I will be of much use to you either." To the others she explained, "Something about Ponyville's living aura stunts my natural Darkland abilities. It will take me time to learn how to counter this."
(OOC: Where you want to go? What do you want to do? I'm game for anything, so you can lead the way if you like. We can head to your home, Razz's shop, somewhere else? I have to catch up on the other storylines to see where everyone else is, lol.)

On the road to Ponyville, Silverfall suddenly staggered.
"What's wrong?" Razz asked, dashing up along-side her.
"I don't know," Silverfall said, shaking her head. "Nothing. Clumsy." Beside her Bandit was frantically nudging her with his nose. "Come on, let's hurry to town." She broke away from them into a trot. It seemed a bit of a frenzied trot, so the others would have to move quickly to keep up.
(Exit: to Ponyville. Since the evils are working on doing their thing, I think I'll take us to the town square first...)

Paradise flew a few feet above the ground, off to wherever Silverfall was leading them.
