((OOC: After the jump. Nyeheh.))
Trinket grumbled to herself, half-hidden inside a hollow old tree. She hated the cold with a passion. Being more petite than most pony foals, it was rather difficult to find warm garments that fit. Attempting to snuggle into her long, white hair, the Winger decided the best way to take her mind off the dismal weather by holding an animated conversation with herself. "Ugh!! This stupid snow! Not only is it wet and soggy and freezing cold, but it's impossible to walk in AND it covers up any dropped shinies. Snow, snow, snow, SNOW! Everywhere! I don't know why I even left the house in the first place. Oh, wait, I was sick to tears of acting excited about this stupid festival thingy! Why do we need to celebrate a buncha dead guys, ennyhow? Santa Merry Treats can kiss my--Oh!" Trinket froze in mid-sentence, noticing a paper clip on the dry floor of the small shelter. She hastily scooped it up and tucked it away gleefully. "About time I got a shiny... now, where was I? Yeah, how am I supposed to get a good present for Auntie Wysteria and Moony, anyhow? I'm positive they wouldn't want no shinies; and even if they did, my collection is all MINE!" The little Summerwing curled into a ball, shivering miserably. Festival of Light... bah, humbug.

Gold danced on the sparkling snow as the dazzling golden phoenix soared overhead. The phoenix still mourned his master Phenix. The smallest golden tear fell, trickling onto a dead flower, and making it green and blossoming again. It was a rare sight--in the middle of a small patch of dancing gold there stood the tiniest flower.

Trinket lifted her head a little. That was weird... she didn't notice a flower there before. How'd such a little, scrawny thing lasted so long in this disgusting weather. "You ain't gonna last much longer, little thing. The wind and snow'll take care of you before the day's even through." She simply sat there and observed the thing for a while. Finally, she got up and built a little wall of snow around the flower. The least it would do was shelter the thing from the wind. "Look on the bright side, flower. You've lasted this long just fine."

The phoenix began to sing, breaking the cold winter silence, a cold not just in the air, but in many hearts as well. The song calmed the restless, gave hope to those that had lost faith, and cheered the miserable.

A strange song broke the eerie quiet, and Trinket glanced up at the pretty bird who was singing. Feeling oddly cheerful, she took to the air, cautiously approaching the golden creature. It was like something from a fairy tale, whatever it was... The Summerwing smiled and gave a little wave, afriad to break the spell by talking.

No matter how pretty or cheering something was, Trinket didn't have a legendary attention span. Eventually, she simply got bored and wandered away.
((OOC: ...Well... yeah.))
