Outside the apartment building, Marshmallow Cocoa starred in awe at her brand new scooter, her reflection smiled back at her. With its midnight blue paint and snowflakes painted on the front, the scooter was as stylish as it was new. Taking off her blue and white winter hat (which she wore all the time, even during the summer, for reasons unknown), she slipped on her matching — and equally stylish, might I add — helmet. She grinned at herself in the rear-view mirror. She had a need for speed, she thought, she was dangerous and as unpredictable as a tiger on caffeine.
Looking towards the apartment she lived in, she screamed, “Medley!”
Medley and she had been roommates for a little over a month now, but Cocoa still did not understand Medley. She’s too neat, too tidy, Cocoa thought to herself, too some third thing, also. Maybe it was a bad idea to become roommates, after all, she hardly knew Medley.
“But her ad was so colourful,” she thought out loud. Then she gasped, “Great, I just spelled colourful with a u. But I’m an American pony, darn it! I was a Target exclusive: sold only in the US, Australia, and Singapore—but never in the UK. Medley’s British-ness is beginning to wear off on me.”
Finally, the apartment door opened, and Medley appeared. She smiled at her roommate and said, “So that’s the ‘super-amazing, brand-new, top-of-the-line scooter!’ May I have a ride in it?”
“That’s why I bellowed, Medley,” Cocoa said, mimicking Medley’s British accent. She handed her a helmet.
They both hopped on the new scooter and blazed off towards Pony Park.
