Time: Morning (Jump to summer)
"But Unkie Razz!" howled the little pegasus filly. "I wants to learn to fly!" There was the pounding of little hooves on the wooden floor above, followed by Razz's unintelligible voice.
Silverfall rolled over on the bench where she was napping and tried to ignore the ruckus. The heat was unbearable and Razz and Sky Feathers had been arguing all morning. Beneath the bench, Bandit whined and licked her hoof.

A small orange pony with pastel rainbow hair trotted across the hot summer street, her hoofs sticking slightly to the pavement as she went. She came with specific instructions to ask whether or not Razzaroo and Sky Feathers wanted to go down to the beach with the nursery folks, or even if Razz would like Sky Feathers taken off his hoofs for a bit so he could enjoy the day.
Sherbet Explosion smiled, she was becoming such a big girl and helping out Kail so much. And this little Sky Feathers was alot of fun! Almost as hellish as Sherbet herself she had heard Kail say once, laughing. While Kail packed the picnic baskets at the nursery (there were alot of picnic baskets, because there were alot of foals) Sherbet had been allowed to go to Razzaroo's Curiosity Shop all by herself. Of course, it was only a few feet away, but still, only big girls got to go places by themselves and run very important errands. She puffed up her chest as she reached the door and knocked with her forehoof.

Silverfall groaned inwardly at the sound of a knock on the front door and looked up from beneath her hoof, which was just then rubbing her temple.
"Come in, Sherbert," she called out, recognizing the foal. Sitting up, she then called upstairs, "Razz! Visitor!"
There was a clamboring on the ceiling that sounded a bit like large hooves chasing after smaller ones and then Razz's voice.
"Just a sec!"

Sherbet entered with a grin, this Silverfall pony was one of her favorites. She used magic! That was even cooler than Kail's wings, by far. "Hello Silverfall," she said with a little bit of awe in her voice.
As the noises upstairs increased rather than decreased, Sherbet giggled and threw a hoof over her mouth. "Hello Sky Feathers!" she called up the staircase, hoping that the foal would recognize her voice and stop in her tracks to figure out where it was coming from.

"Hello, Sherbert," Silverfall said as the ruckus above their heads abruptly stopped. With her eyes above, the silver mare crossed her hooves. "She should be down shortly."
True to the thought, there was a sudden commotion on the stairs as something brightly colored came bulleting down.
"Wait, wait, wait!" Razz was calling out, but Sky Feathers had perfected this maneuver a few days earlier.
She coasted on bent wings for speed and took the length of the stairs in about half the usual time. Razz came stumbling after and banged his knee against the railing in his haste to catch her.
Sky Feathers wing-danced eagerly across the floor to where Sherbert was standing, dipped her wings, and came to a stop.
"I'm gonna learn how to fly!" she exclaimed.
"No..." Razz winced as he hobbled up. "No, no...NO!"
Silverfall chuckled to herself.
"But Unkie Razz, you said!" The little filly stomped her feet and flittered her wings. "You said when I was big. I ate my carrots and everything. You said I could fly!"
"But you're still too little." Razz tried to explain.
"No, no, no! I'm not little no more. I gots big wings now. Look!" She fanned them back and forth, began pumping more vigorously, and attempted to hover off the ground.
"Let's keep four hooves on the ground today," Razz said, pushing her back down. "Say hello to your friend, now. Hello, Sherbert. What brings you by today?" He was looking for a distraction.

Sherbet looked on in amazement as Sky Feathers "flew" down the stairs. "Wow! That was really cool! I wish I had wings!" Razz followed as quick as he could, and the foal's eyes widdened as he hit his knee. Growed ups usually weren't happy when something like that happened.
I'm not little no more. I gots big wings now. Look!
Sky Feathers put them out, but Sherbet grinned. "You aren't big like me yet, you have to be able to cross the street on your own before you can go flying everywhere." She nodded matter-of-factly, she liked to remind everyone that she was a big girl now.
Hello, Sherbert. What brings you by today?
Sherbet puffed herself up again, like a really big girl, and smiled. "Kail sent me all the way across the street, by myself, to ask if Sky Feathers, or any of you, would like to join us at the beach for picnics." She finally let out all the air she had been using to make herself bigger, and then leaned over to Razz as if telling a secret. "She could teach her how to fly, but I will tell her not to if you want. Sky Feather's isnt a big girl like me yet."

Sky Feathers gave Sherbert an unhappy pout, unconvinced that crossing the street would make her a better flyer.
Razz was so distracted by the sudden thought of Kail, that Silverfall had to answer for him.
"I think Razz and Sky Feathers would love to go to the beach, Sherbert." If it meant there would be some peace and quiet in the shop, she would glady push them out the door.
"What? Oh, yes!" Razz said. He hesitated again, this time dwelling on the prospect of Sky's flying lessons. His throat felt dry. Since the filly had come to live with him, he'd experienced a sweeter side of life, the kind that comes with raising foals. Sometimes it seemed to suck the adventure right out of him and he was even more nervous than before.
"Yay!" said Sky Feathers. "We're going to the beach!" She began to prance around, flapping her wings.
"I'll talk to Kail about it," Razz said quiety to Sherbert, leaning in then to whisper. "We'll keep it a surprise. I know you can do that, because you're such a big girl now."

Sherbets eyes widdened and she whispered, "oh yes, I can do that because Im a big girl, and big girls can keep secrets." She held in a little squeal of delight and bit her lower lip. It was a habit she had picked up from Kail, who had picked it up Rainbow knows where.
"Ok, well Kail is getting picnic baskets ready in the nursery, so whenever you are ready we can go back over. I said I would help her when I was done."

Razz smiled kindly at her. "Why don't you and Sky Feathers head over there now and I'll get our stuff together and meet you there in a minute?"
"Auntie Sil, can I take Bandit to the beach?" Sky Feathers had bounced over to Silverfall and was giving up her best doe-eyed impression. Silverfall didn't seem amused by the gesture or the name "auntie," but Bandit had already scrambled out from under the bench at the sound of his name.
"Alright, then," she said, nodding her consent. "He says he wants to go." She looked at Razz. "And he'll be plenty good at herding them up when it is time to go."
"Whats herdin?" Sky asked Razz.
"Nevermind, sweets, why don't you go grab his frisbee?"

While they were busy, Silverfall took the chance to slip out into the alley between Razz's shop and the one next door. The heat washed over her, almost making her feel ill, but she continued to the garden in back.
Alone beneath a heat-stricken tree, she planted herself firmly on the ground and drew herself up into her mind. Somewhere out there was someone she was trying to find.
She felt her mind trickling outward, a trick taught to her by the Mystic. She felt the blur of recent memories slipping backward through time. Then suddenly she felt a tugging, almost like a desperate calling. She followed the thread until at last she could see the purple unicorn alone in the snow.
With a flash, her eyes snapped open. Then she was simply gone and the tree stood lonely in the garden once more.
(To Fewa, but I'll be back.)

"OK! Sky Feathers, Bandit, we have to be really careful when we cross the street. Stay next to me, cause Im a big girl and I can do it, but your both little and cant yet." Really, Sherbet had no idea if Bandit could cross the street by himself, or how old he was, but she decided better to be safe than sorry.
(OOC: continued at the nursery - Kail's post about picnics and beaches or something like that)

Sky Feathers took this opportunity to pay attention to Sherbert's instruction, for even though she was not convinced that learning to cross the street would make her a better flyer, she wasn't willing to take any chances either. She stepped lively beside Sherbert and hoped she'd done herself proud. Bandit bounced along after him, tongue lolling.
