Razz dragged Silverfall back to the Nursery so that he could take a moment to place a small, neatly-wrapped package on the table for Kail. He had meant to give it to her earlier, but was easily distracted. He was Razzaroo, after all. He glowed with pride as he patted the little box to be sure it would sit perfectly still until Kail returned. Her name was printed in big letters on the tag so she could hardly miss it.
"What is it?" Silverfall asked.
Razz jumped a little, having forgotten that the silver mare was standing there, too.
"It belonged to my mother," he said. "It's a...thing...for finding your way when you are lost. It always points in the direction you want to go."
Silverfall wondered if he was talking about a compass, but given that it was Razzaroo talking, she really didn't want to give it more thought. And so they left.

(heh, you have no idea how appropriate that gift is right now)
Kail opened the door into the darkened and mostly empty nursery without flipping on a light. She had brought Sherbet back and put her to bed before going out to the hill to pray. It just didn't seem right to take the young one out there and make her sit uncomfortably in the cold grass when it wasn't her custom in the first place.
Finding her way into the kitchen, Kail finally flipped on the light over the sink so she could see and let a small window of it splash out into the entranceway. She got a mug out of the cupboard and put the kettle on the stove. It would be nice to get something warm inside her before bed, especially on such a dark night as this. All the lights that had made the festivals eve so bright and cheery had been turned off with tradition, leaving the longest and darkest night of the year just that.
Taking her mug over to the table, she noticed a small package with her name on it. It seemed Sherbet wasnt the only one to get a visit from Santa Merry Treats. She opened it up and looked emotionlessly at the compass, the needle pointing due north. Then a smile creeped across her lips as she realized what lay due north - the stairs to her bedroom. That compass sure was a smart one - bed seemed like just the thing. Tommorrow would be the Festival of Lights, Kail's birthday, and the day the homsickness would leave for a bit, as her family showed up to celebrate the holiday in a new place.
(OOC: it was a compass right? And does she know it was from Razz? I can edit)

(Yes, it is a compass. It's a magic compass, really, but most times it works just normal. Razz didn't put his name on the box to indicate it was from him because he thought he'd give it to her in person, er in pony, so she doesn't have to know yet.)
