After making her way downstairs, Mittens unlocked the front door and set the holly decorated 'open' sign in the window next to the door.
Humming a Christmas carol she went to the back of the store and returned a moment later with a box. Setting the box down she opened it. A smile spread across her face as she began to take various Halloween decorations out of the box and set them up for the window display.

Singing to herself, Mittens began, "Deck the halls with boughs of holly ..."
Trailing off she continued to hum the tune. Picking up a cut out skeleton, she turned towards the counter. Walking back behind the counter she searched for a few minutes, until she came across the tape. Pulling off a couple of pieces she took the skeleton over to the front door and taped him up on the glass; so that all who passed would see him. Turning back around she began sorting through the items left in the box. Searching for something, that not even she knew what it was.

"Tis the season to be jolly ..." Mittens sang soon no longer singing the words, only humming the tune.
Looking over a glass pumpkin she wondered if the window really was the best place to put this little orange delight.

Having taken a liking to the pumpkin she took it instead over to the counter and set it alongside the candy dish, which was filled with various candies.
"Jingle bell, jingle bell, jingle bell rock, jingle bell ..."
Mittens was bopping her to the tune. Happy and content, she had no idea of what was happening at the castle. All she knew was that outside it was quiet and no one was out and about. At least not that she had seen yet.

Mittens voice rang out as she began singing one of her favorite Christmas songs.
"I'm dreaming of a white Christmas. Just like the ones I used to know."
As the words hit her, she was reminded of past Christmases. Things just weren't the same here. But than she had expected they wouldn't be. That's what happens when you leave everything you know and love behind. Things change.
Sniffing back a tear that was on the verge of running down her cheek, Mittens attempted to begin singing her song again.
"I'm dreaming of a white Christmas. Just like ..."

Hours passed and no one came. The setting sun told the pearly pink earthling that it was time to close shop, and so she did.
