His eyes took a while to ajust from the bright light outside it had been so long and not one follower! His frustration was almost beyond imagining. Maybe this place would be more promising. He walked up to the counter and stood there glancng around the shop. Tapping a hoof he waited for the shop-keeper to return.

Irritated by the heat, that seemed never to lessen, Jol silently cursed himself for leaving the cool of Butterscotch's home to find that something he sought.
Unable to bare the sun beating down upon his back any longer he opened the door of the first shop he spotted and walked right in.
Instantly something pricked at his mind. Something was here. But was it the something he sought?
[OOC: Jol, is ready and willing to be your mage, if you want him.]

((Soon as I fully understand the concept of mages... lol I'm a bit confused, maybe you know?))
Eshu turned around sharply, senses prickling, sensing... potential? Here? of all places? Eyeing the stallion who had just entered curiosly he risked a question, "From around here?"

Jol snorted as he replied, "From the land of pinky frills, not bloody likely."
The unicorn said nothing more. He didn't care to bring up his past or where he came from. Why remember? It only hurt.
Orange twinkle eyes glittered, even in the light of the shop. He wasn't stupid, he could tell this one before him was anything but another of the locals. The real question to him though was, does this one possess 'it'? That something he had been searching for since his mother's passing.
[OOC: Not entirely. The jest of what I get from what I've read is that the gods need a mage to help bring their powers to full force. Without one they have little to none of their original powers.]

((Okies.))
Eshu grined and chuckled a bit. Not bloody likely... I'll remember that one. "You seem like the sort to question things. How about religion. Do you worship the old gods, or that stupid rainbow all the rest of you mortals are gaga about?" Eshu continued to evaluate him, this one, this one could make a worthy mage...

"A rainbow? You can't be serious." Jol replied with a roll of his eyes.
He knew all about the rainbow. How could he not? He'd heard about in school. But believe in it? Pray to it? Ha! Not in ten thousand years. But did he really believe in the old gods? He wasn't entirely sure. He knew about them. At least vaguely. His mother had told him stories about them when he was younger. But to believe that they still existed in today's time? What were the odds? Still a small part of him wanted to believe, if for no other reason just to be somehow nearer to his mother.

Unaccustomed to waiting and not caring in the least for it now, Jol shifted his body making it quite clear in that one simple movement that he would not be staying much longer. If this one who was talking to him wanted something or was trying to get around to something, than he had better do so quickly. For the orange unicorn had no intention of bending over backwards to try and find out what it was. If he truly wished to know one little spell would be enough to reveal what the other sought. Of course Jol had no idea that his sort of magic wouldn't work on this one, for this was an immortal and his spells and tricks that worked so beautifully upon the morals traipsing about would be nothing more than a slight of hand or a parlor trick to a powerful god like this.

Star Swirl, panting heavily rushed down from upstairs, carrying her newly ordered telescope to display. She hurriedly set it down behind the counter when she saw she had customers. Great Rainbow, it's so bloody hot! she thought grumpily to herself. The white-as-snow mare set her hooves on the cashier's desk. "Hello," she called to the others cheerfully. "May I help you with anything?"

"No... Not right now I think..." Eshu trailed off and turned to Jol. "Mind leaving this shop? I'd like a word with you. You may have skills which could be very useful to my purpose."
((Where to go from here? I gotta wrap this up quick though, or Becka might just kill me... I was off camping for seven days. *pounds ehad into wall*))

Jol slightly lowered his head in reply. More than willing to leave this shop, to be away from another of the bubbly ponies. How he greatly disliked being nice to them. Just a mind trick here or there, how he missed playing with their heads.
(OOC: Around the beach or another shop? In the middle of Ponyville?Butterscotch's house? Haha. Butterscotch would just love that. Or not.)

((heck, lets save the confusion and say that they're outside the shop...))
Eshu smiled warmly and glanced around for passers-by who might listen in. "I have an offer for you..." he started "How would you like power? Beyond what you know? To serve me, Eshu, the best of all the gods, as my mage?" he waited eagerly for a reply.

Jol could feel the electricity in the words. The sheer power behind them almost caused the stallion to drool. Power beyond what he knew? The idea was staggering, the thought overwhelming. Without a thought to it, he readily agreed.
“I am at your service milord.” The light orange stallion replied with a bow of his head.
Where the other led, he would follow. What the other ordered, he would do without hesitation or question. He would do anything, well anything except bring harm to Silence. Though the foal was not his own, he had come to care for him more than he could have ever dreamed possible.

"I'm glad to hear that, umm... I'm afraid I don't know your name do I?" Eshu cursed his own stupidity for a moment, finally getting someone in his service and not even knowing their name!

Jol didn't reply the second the other mentioned about knowing his name. To give his real name or an alias? But than was it wise to remain as he was, or should he too change his appearance? Others knew him here and whatever would come, did he want them to know he was behind it? What of Silence?

Star Swirl sighed as the two left the shop. She badly needed customers. Maybe opening up this shop wasn't such a great idea after all, she thought to herself. She shook her head at the silly thought and hauled the large telescope over to the shop window, and took down one of her older telescopes down, putting it carefully in it's brown box, which she had brought down earlier. She then set up the newer, better telescope. It had a built-in camera, too, so you could take pictures of whatever it was you found interesting in the night sky.
