Shadoweaver looked around her gleaming Inn, tired but satisfied. Everything had been dusted, to the last cherished knick-knack. The windows shone and the wood glowed warmly with a fresh polishing. With the help of a few other ponies, the cellar had been restocked and every room freshened.
Stretching abused muscles, the dusky flutter slipped behind the bar and mixed herself a mild drink. She needed to relax.

Tyr walked in, curiously somber even for him. He carried a long bundle wrapped in a grey silk, and laid it gently on the bar in front of Shadoweaver.
The dark flutter took one look at it, and her eyes watered. She knew from it's very magical aura what lay wrapped--Emerald Shadow's sterling falchion, fashioned by Tyr himself in ages long past.
Shadoweaver unwrapped it revrently. The falchion had a broad blade, thick along its spine and sharpened only along the convex curve of the blade. It was a weapon effective against even heavy armor, and this particular one also had a wicked point. More than the mere sum of its parts, the sword also had something of a mind of its own. She picked it up it seemed neither awkward nor heavy, even for her slight frame.
"Tyr. I would have thought that this might have gone to Dream Valley's next Watcher."
The god of just war shook his head. "It calls out for you. In any case, Dream Valley does not have a Guardian yet, and this sword will be needed..."
Shadoweaver looked at him, her dark eyes tired beyond her years. "And me."
"Yes, Shadoweaver...and you. You're going to have to come fully into your powers. Scary as they might be..." Tyr watched her as she regarded the blade in her hooves.
Struck by the sudden weight of inspriation--divine?--she gathered all her personal power. Eyes firmly on the sword she whispered one word--"Wake"
The sudden flash of light made the entire Inn seem dim afterwards. Shadoweaver trembled noticably as the dim aura that had been around the sword flared fully into life. Even Tyr was openly astonished.
"Darkreaver."
