Chimes over the door rang as a white mare sauntered into the Cafe. Eyes half-closed, without a care in the world, Port-O-Bella strode over to a booth, and after tossing her hemp bag on the seat, climbed in and sat down. She sighed, and spaced out for a few seconds before opening the menu in front of her.
"May I take your order?"
"Oh...huh?" PoB was startled from her daze, which she fell into multiple times a day. "Oh um.. yeah.. can I have a slice of pizza with uh.. extra cheese, cheese fries, and ..a chai tea?" She spoke in a low, relaxed and almost masculine voice. The waitress nodded and took the menu with her.
Alone again, PoB pulled a book from her bag, Karma and You, and opened to one of the dog-eared pages.

Amber had just entered the Cotton Candy Cafe for a cinnamon roll, when all signs of hunger passed. In front of her, apparently absorbed in a book, was a pony with the most extraordinary hair. The white pony was a rainbow pony, but not the usual kind. As someone who pays careful attention to all aspects of hair, Amber knew that the typical rainbow pony had 3, possibly 4 colors in their mane, and 2 of the colors found in their mane as their tail colors. However, this pony had a 3-color mane and a 3-color tail. What really excited Amberlocks was that the mane and tail shared white and dark pink coloring, but the third mane color was orange, and the third tail color was blue. That's right - a color on the tail that was not shared with the mane! Amberlocks, unable to contain herself, trotted up to the pony and began speaking to her in her heavy country accent. "Hi, y'all! Are you new around these parts? 'Cause I do declare, your hair's about as unusual as a spotted unicorn in the desert! Do you think y'all could mosey on down to my salon? I just know I could find the perfect style, and I have all the right scrunchies and barrettes to bring out your hair colors! It wouldn't take too long, and I'm free right now!" ((Yah, Amber's forward, but she's not snobbish about hair - she obsesses over other people's but doesn't judge them by it. Plus, she's kept her hair in the same bun for years! You mentioned in your character's description(which I also read to find her hair colors ) that she had tried to find work at the flower shop, and though Amber runs a salon, she really needs help. Maybe she could just work there a little while? Or, Amber would love to style her hair. ))

((just for clarification, Port-O-Bella = t-O-Be = Tobe! ))
Port-O-Bella looked up from her book casually as the excited purple pony began talking about her hair. Wait, she wasn't purple. The white mare lowered her violet hippie-ish glasses and took in the mare's real colors. She was pink, with a goldish mane and tail. She was still talking, About what? Unicorns in the desert, apparently. That certainly was a strange thing to walk up to a random pony and talk about.Tobe idly scratched her neck where her hemp necklace was itching it.
"...I just know I could find the perfect style, and I have all the right scrunchies and barrettes to bring out your hair colors! It wouldn't take too long, and I'm free right now!"
Scrunchies? Barrettes? Tobe raised a pierced eyebrow. Had the mare even noticed that she washed her hair MAYBE once a week, and never done more than put a rubber band around it in her life? Well, she'd had it braided a few times, but that was it.
"Yeah.. uh, I guess I could," She responded, not in a dull or disgusted way, just simply in a low and ever-relaxed tone. "But uh.. I have food coming. I think I'm free, like, after that.."

"Great! This'll be more fun than watchin' a snake do the do-si-do! I'm here for a cinnamon roll, anyhow - mind if I sit with y'all?" (( Oooh...this is gonna be fun... ))

((hehe yeah.. meet Tobe, the space cadet ) Tobe simply waved an outstretched white hoof in a slow and calm manner, inviting the other mare to sit with her. Friendship was good karma, she nodded inwardly. As was tolerance. She glanced up for a moment, wondering about the wherabouts of her food. The white mare reminded herself, though, that all good things came in time, that patience is a virtue... But holy mother of Rainbow she was hungry!

Amberlocks was a laid-back country girl, and very hard to phase. Still, she couldn't help but feel uncomfortable around the new pony. She seemed so deep! Making a motion as though to brush a stray strand of hair behind her ear(a nervous habit - she had forgotten that her hair was in a bun!), Amber was glad that the other pony was staying to eat. Sometimes she got so excited about hair, she forgot all else, and she really was hungry! (( That whole brushing the hair behind the ear thing - that's mine! I always do that, and when I'm nervous, I do it over and over again, which must look stupid because once is really enough to get your hair behind your ear! Anyway, it was fun having Amber do it. ))

((heh.. I used to do that a bit. Now I take my hands in and out of my pockets and sway my hips, lol))
The white mare remained calm and rather peaceful as the pink pony joined her in her booth. Tobe reached for her hemp-woven bag, and replaced the book she had opened earlier. She took the opportunity to stick some sugar packets from the dispenser into her bag as well. The mare caught the other's glance and shrugged, "They're free."
Just as she stowed her bag next to her on the seat, the waitress returned with her order. PoB's stomach grumbled as the greasy, cheese-smothered food was set before her. Bringing her hooves together, she bowed her head to the server, "Thanks."
Port-O-Bella took a generous bite out of her pizza slice, then swallowed and looked at Amber. She spaced out for a second, then cleared her throat and pushed the cheese fries closer to her new acquaintance, saying in her slighlty masculine voice, "You want some?"

Amber laughed, shaking her head as PoB stuffed sugar packets into her bag. "I do declare, y'all are one of the funniest things I've seen since prairie dog wrestling!"((Don't get any ideas... )) The pink pony then reached out and took a cheese fry. "Thank you kindly! I must admit, I'm yet to taste a cheese fry, but I've got quite the unhealthy obsession with nachos!" ((I'd just like to add that in all my free time lately I've been drooling over the old Glayse/Rose posts, and I LOVE Glayse!(I guess I can take a number, huh?) I'm up to the part where Set(h) wants to tutor Tsuwari right now, and I'm Lovin' It! I think you and Rose are two of the most amazing writers I've come across in rpgs! Do you know each other in real life?))

((Oh - and I like the PoB picture you added to your little changing picture thingy(which, I'd like to add, drives me insane when I'm reading posts - "I'll just watch for Glayse one more time!").))

(( You guys are so kind! *huggles you both* Careful, Glasye's head is already too big for his own good, lol, he's liable to explode one of these days . And no, Rose and I don't know each other irl, but we do chat on AIM. (I'm MustBeJewel, if you're interested ). Thanks again.. you guys really made me smile ) "I do declare, y'all are one of the funniest things I've seen since prairie dog wrestling!"Tobe smiled with half-closed eyes, then wiped a stray string of cheese from her mouth before replying, "Thanks." "Thank you kindly! I must admit, I'm yet to taste a cheese fry, but I've got quite the unhealthy obsession with nachos!"The white mare bit her tongue to keep from gaping in astonishment, which said something since she usually wasn't phased by much of anything. Never had cheese fries? How could you be so, like... deprived?!. Tobe simply smiled, calmly as ever, and raising a cheese-covered fry in front of her so that it was between Amber and herself, explained. "Cheese," She said slowly, squinting one eye and raising the other eyebrow at the fry, "Is ...one of the glues that holds this world together. It's only.. one of the greatest foods ever. I hesitate to think of where we'd be without it," She stated with a grim undertone, face relaxing, and vocabulary expressiveness used up for that day. She smiled and ate the fry with finality.

((I have no IM setup right now! )) After Tobe's serious remark, she smiled, like an adult smiles at a child who is busy explaining about his imaginary ghost dinosaur friend, and took a bite of the cheese fry in her hoof. "...Well...these are might tasty cheese fries!", she replied.

Tobe licked her lips briefly with her tongue before simply replying, "Yeah.."
As her meal came to an end, Port-O-Bella lay a few pieces of ponyville currency on the table to pay for her food. She arranged the coins in a pyramid fashion, quite amused, but as always, displaying very little emotion on her features.
"Oh, uh.." She looked at Amber and blinked, "Did you say something about like.. going someplace..?"

Amber was not discouraged by Tobe's lack of interest. She was too excited about her first customer at the salon being such an unusaul case(though a voice in the back of her head mentioned that future customers should not have to be asked to come in! ). "Yup - that would be my salon! Ready to go, pardner?" She'll look so fantastic when I'm through with her, customers'll be linin' up at my door!
