As she neared the site of the newly built castle, a reminiscent feeling knotted in the pegasus' chest. The last time she had been here was in company of ponies like Willow and Roux, with a dagger strapped to her foreleg and thoughts of death in her mind. For this was the site where the battle of the Rainbow of Darkness took place.
The scene had changed drastically, however. Where there were once massive boulders and bricks amidst broken beams and glass, there was now clean, grass-filled ground with a few flowers here and there. The trees were full of pre-autumn leaves, and lo and behold, a brand new castle stood where the old one once towered. In many ways, life in Ponyville had returned to its original balance.
No, Jewel thought to herself, Things aren't right. Some other force has invaded this town, I don't need anyone to tell me that. I can feel it. Something that is bringing about frightful things in the forest, and near-murders. Why would 'gods' do all this? ...
With a quick look around and a small sigh, the golden pegasus lay under a tree in the area in front of the castle. The griffin quickly set himself vigilently in the tree's upper branches. Jewel leaned her raised head against the tree's trunk and glanced down at the small rocks at its base, tapping them here and there with the tip of one of her golden hooves. For some reason, she suddenly longed for Roux. Drifting off into thought, the pegasus soon fell victim to the world of dreams.
