Beebop walked into the town square. The warm summer breeze felt good. He closed his eyes and enjoyed it work it’s way through his smooth white mane that brushed gentle against the side of his face.
He looked around the area for a moment. There were a few ponies out and about. This town seemed so innocent. It was almost something out of a storybook. There was no litter, and the area looked relatively green. The place looked clean and bright. The citizens didn’t look like they were up to no good. They seemed honest, and almost kind. (For the most part.) He could see by observing their faces and just how they acted that they were full of good intentions. It all seemed so different.
He looked all his surroundings with a look of attentiveness and curiosity, trying to let it all soak in. For a moment he felt at ease, but he quickly changed back to his original serious state, ears pined back.
He stepped up towards the large marble water fountain and peered in at his reflection before taking a drink. It felt strange drinking out of a water fountain rather than a water bottle or something of that relation, but it was still water and he didn’t notice a private property sign anywhere. He looked up once more to watch the other ponies go about their business.

Roxanne turned a corner and came upon the Ponyville main square. She tipped her head sideways at the sight of an unfamiliar blue hide with its nose in the fountain. But she was at her most outgoing today, and thought it might be a chance to get into the swing of town life again.
She trotted up to him and flicked her tail.
"Y'ello there, stranger. Enjoying some Ponyville aqua pura?
"I'd stay away from that side of the fountain, though," and she cocked one ear, "I've known more than one feisty newborn to puddlejump off the edge." Roxy gave him her most affable half-grin.

Beebop's head raised as a mare approched him. At first he just stared at her, trying to size her up. She seemed very friendly and full of youth. It made the stallion feel at ease.
"Enjoying some Ponyville aqua pura?"
He didn't quite know what she meant, as he wasn't thuroughly acustomed to sarcasm or other such things. "Umm...yes?" He said flatly with an ear cocked.
"I'd stay away from that side of the fountain, though," and she cocked one ear, "I've known more than one feisty newborn to puddlejump off the edge." Roxy gave him her most affable half-grin.
He looked at the fountain for a moment and then reset his deep purple eyes on Roxanne. "Thanks for the tip." He said with a slight smile.

Roxanne giggle soundlessly to herself without changing her mild facial expression. This stal was a cutie.
"Aqua pura... pure water... heh, don't mind me, kiddo, just feeling a bit Latin today. Tomorrow - who knows? I might be feeling German; then watch out!"
She grinned at herself. "Arright, I'm not making sense anymore. The point really is, you look rawther alone and I've never met you anyhow, so I figured I'd say hi."
Roxy put out a hoof. "I'm Roxanne, Roxy to some. You new in the 'Ville? Or have you slipped through my radar since I've been living under a rock for the past few weeks?" She winked.

Beebop expression wasn't at all phased from the fact that he'd just been called 'kiddo' save for the fact his ears pined back at the name. True, she did seem a small deal older than him, so he decided to shrug it off.
Obviously she was trying to amuse him with her talk of 'aqua pura' but his sense of humor had run dry these days, and for a fair reason. He just seemed to blink indiferently to her explination.
He shook her hoof which brought forth a smile from the stallion. "Beebop." He said trading his name for her's. "Yeah, I'm new."

Roxanne watched the blue stallion's ears go back with mild concern. Perhaps she'd better tone herself down, so to speak.
His smile, though, comforted her. She gave his hoof a firm shake. "Beebop. That's got a real swing to it.
"You play?" She said, nodding at his harp symbol, and hoping to get a conversation going.

The cool-blue stallion glanced at his symbol for a moment as if he had forgotten it was then.
"No, I was just born with it." He shrugged. He then realized that she was trying to make conversation and that he wasn't helping so he spoke again to make up for it. "Do you play anything?"

[Hey, I just noticed something kinda nifty... our character's posts are in boxes that match their body colors - Roxy in yellow and Beebop in blue. I'm easily amused by stuff like that. : D]
Roxy grinned. "Do I play anything... that depends on how you use the word 'play,' haha.
"I don't play musical instruments, nah - but I do own the town theater, so if by 'play' you mean on stage, that's cee-rrect!"
She gestured up the main street with one hoof. "Down thataway, on the left, you can just see it from here: the Ponyville Center Stage Theater. We've got nothing playing right now but I hope to fix that right quick if I can just get my act together to hold auditions.
"You the acting type? Or anything stage-related, really, we can always use help. Sewing, building sets, props, whatever." She smiled.

[Hey, you're right. Cool beans! ] Beebop had no acting talent that he was aware of, and he didn't really want to find out. "I can't act," He said, warming up to the mare a little more, "but I think I might be able to help with probs if you'd like." He was more willing to start his day off with making friends rather than enimies so he decided to go along with whatever Roxanne had planed. He also considered his powers of invisibility might come in handy on stage, but he wouldn't get into that now.

Roxanne smiled. That was a pretty long sentence for Beebop's side of the conversation. "Well, sooner or later you'll see signs posted around town for help, and then you're beyond welcome to drop by, babe, I'll keep your name in mind for sure.
"But enough of that talk, I'm not working today, I spent my morn sweeping the whole ruddy theater and I'm finito for now."
She sat down on the edge of the fountain, flicking her tail to one side to avoid getting it wet. "So if you're new," she said, and spoke in an exaggerated drawl, "where'ya frommm?"

Beebop sat down beside her and slumped forward with his arms resting on his lap as he stared at the ground. At first he cared not to talk of where he was from, but knew there wasn't anything better to talk about. What was the harm in it?
"A town called Maple Hill" He answered. He had a slight sickening feeling as he thought of the ugly trailor park town. He hoped it's seemingly pleasant title made for a good illusion that it was a normal decent town, and he hoped she hadn't heard of it.

"Maple Hill... New one on me, sounds real picturesque. Especially if there are actually maples and hills." Roxy raised her eyebrows in mock awe. "So is it far from here? And what've you come to Ponyville for?"
She checked herself and smiled at Beebop again. "Sorry for all the queries, but I'm makin' conversation doncha know, and anyhow you seem the quiet mysterious type - very intriguing!"

"Maple Hill... New one on me, sounds real picturesque. Especially if there are actually maples and hills." Roxy raised her eyebrows in mock awe.
"Not Exactly." He said, sliding of his seat onto his for hooves once more.
"So is it far from here? And what've you come to Ponyville for?"
"No to close, not too far." He responded to her flatly. He wasn't aware that the ponies of this town fancied playing twenty questions, and he really wasn't in the mood to be giving out personal information, but he decided to continue. "I moved here because..." he blinked to himself for a moment as he stared at the ground in thought. What did he move here for exactly? He looked up at her. His eyes were fixed on her's. "Let's just say it was time for a change." He forced a half-smiled again, trying to be friendly.
She checked herself and smiled at Beebop again. "Sorry for all the queries, but I'm makin' conversation doncha know, and anyhow you seem the quiet mysterious type - very intriguing!"
He couldn't think of anything to say to that, so he only nodded to her and tried to change the subject. "What about you? Have you lived here long?"

Roxy sighed inwardly. By the Bard, this stal's gonna make a real fabulous new contribution to the overall cheerfulness of Ponyville citizenship. I haven't met a guy this sullen since I took the lead from that wanna-be Wotsisface during our last Hamlet.
Still, she forged ahead. Maybe someday he'd loosen up. She liked a social challenge anyway.
"A change - good call, I hear ya on that one. Well, you picked a fab spot, no worries mate. I admit this place's had a bit extra drama lately, but overall it's top-hole - nice ponies, good weather, perfect location and all that.
"I've been hear for absolute eons, not that I'm that old, but it feels like it sometimes, haha! Nah really, I've been here for roundabout a quarter century - I'll say 25 years 'cause that makes me sound younger, and I'll add that I was only a wee filly when I moved here. I was born in Stratford-on-Rainbow, which is thataway" (she gestured vaguely with one hoof) "down the river a ways."
She kicked a pebble around idly with one hoof. "Anywho, the upshot of the matter is I know this town purdy darn well. Hey ya, if you ever need help with anything - place to stay, advice, whathaveyou, just trit-trot down to the theater and I'd be happy to assist."

Beebop nodded. His smile was now genuine and thoughtful. "Yeah, nice ponies. You are a perfect example of that."

Beebop leaned over and looked in the direction in which she gesturing towards, but saw nothing of real relivence, but he trusted she knew what she was talking about. "I see." He said still holding his smile as he looked. His tail was now swishing from side to side slightly which was a sign he was getting more relaxed around her.

"Thanks," He said looking at her, "I'll do that." He couldn't belive how much kindness he was being dealed one his first day in a new and strange town, but somehow he knew it wasn't a trick and she wasn't doing it because she wanted something. She was just being nice. Hmm...we need more ponies like this back at home. He thought.
