Amber stepped into her shiny new salon, loving the whiff of deliciously-scented hair products one smelled upon entering. "I've got a confession to make - y'all are gonna be my first customer!" She then realized that she may have discouraged Port-O-Bella, and was quick to add, "That is, at this salon - you see, I just opened. So, I've had lots of practice. And then, you won't be paying, of course..." "So, I guess y'all are gonna be like a field mouse jumpin' into a starvin' snake's mouth!", she concluded.
((I love doing those wierd cowgirl phrases...And I think I'm caught up with the Glayse story now - Glayse is with Rose, and there's someone evil nearby, right? Or have I missed something?))

"I've got a confession to make - y'all are gonna be my first customer!"
The naturally sleepy-eyed mare stopped in her tracks at this statement. Not that she cared that much about her appearance, but she didn't want her locks hacked off by some amateur.
That is, at this salon - you see, I just opened. So, I've had lots of practice. And then, you won't be paying, of course..." "So, I guess y'all are gonna be like a field mouse jumpin' into a starvin' snake's mouth!"
"Not paying?" The masculine-voiced mare asked with a raised eyebrow, "Heh.. ok." Yes. Free things were good.
Again Tobe had to stop and think a moment. Was Amber going to eat her? That's just, not cool. Maybe.. maybe this whole salon thing is like, a setup.. to lure unsuspecting ponies into the lair of some, like, cannibal...
Before Port-O-Bella could finish her thought, she found herself in a chair with an apron around her neck.

Amber looked at the locks of unusually-colored hair and thought a moment. Hmm...I think I'll be wantin' to wash her hair before I go about doin' anything else... Had this been a normal appointment, the stylist would have been on the other mare in a second for the bedraggled state of her lovely hair. However, she had met up with Tobe and invited her to come get her hair styled, and this was her first job since she'd come to town, so she decided that it would be best not to yell at this particular customer. Amber leaned the salon chair back against one of the many sinks lining the walls of the salon and held up several shampoo and conditioner bottles. "What scents do ya like, darlin'?"

What scents do ya like, darlin'?"
Tobe was busy staring over the rims of her violet glasses at a jar on the counter. It had some combs in it, and was filled with this mysterious blue liquid. The white mare had never seen anything so blue. At least, not that was *ahem* real.
"Oh.. uh... what?" Eyelids half-closed again as Tobe came out of her spaced out trance. She blinked at the pink mare in the mirror and smiled slightly, "Oh, heh.. cannibu--" She cut herself short. Certainly this salon didn't offer THAT kind of smell. Not like it was hard to come by anyway. She cleared her throat. "Something, like... earthy, man."

"Something like...earthy, man."
Amber thought for a moment before opening the cupboard under the nearest sink and pulling two bottles. "Hmm...How 'bout coconut shampoo and...rose conditioner?" Without waiting for a response she ran warm water over Tobe's mane and began to lather the shampoo in.
((Hehe...I use Suave coconut shampoo and conditioner... ;D ))

"Hmm...How 'bout coconut shampoo and...rose conditioner?"
"Oh uh..." Before Tobe could form even part of a sentence (which we all know takes long enough anyway), she found herself being shampooed. "Heh.." The white mare closed her eyes and felt warm and tingly from the pampering she wasn't exactly used to. Her hair was lucky to get washed once a week, though her showers did come more frequently.

Amber whipped Tobe's hair out of the sink and quickly blow-dried it like a pro. It was soon mostly dry, and the pink pony tore through a barette box for the right accessory while the hair was still slightly damp. Pulling out a white scrunchie, she siezed a strand of hair and began tightly twisting it counter-clockwise.
((Eeeeh! I'm caught up and followin' the Glayse/Rose story line!))

The white mare sat patiently, passively, as the pink mare worked her wonders. Mm.. that coconut smelled nice. Tobe would have to visit one of the astrology shops today and see about buying incense that resembled the smell.
"So uh... what's the plan here?" She asked, motioning to her twisting locks.

"Well, I was plannin' on doin' some nice little twists on your hair counter-clockwise, then leaving them to sit twisted into individual buns", she replied, coiling the hair tightly into a bun and siezing another strand. "Then, I'll take 'em down, and twist them all into a clockwise bun together, and after I leave that to sit and take it down, you'll have all your hair smooth and bunched together. That'll protect you from any hair frizz problems, and it'll give you the slightest bit of a long-lastin' natural wave!", she finished. Then she smiled and proceeded to twist strands of hair. She was fast, and by now half-done. The little buns along the back of the neck were a strange sight indeed, but they would soon be coming down. As Amber worked, she had Port-o-Bella's tail soaking in a basin on the floor, with special hair-treatment products mixed in with the warm water. (( I used a treatment I use on my own ponies, and their hair is really good at holding styled-in curls. I used that specific one to hold my long-hair Pick-a-Lilly's natural curl!))

"...and it'll give you the slightest bit of a long-lastin' natural wave!"
"Oh.. heh," Tobe replied with a small chuckle, "Ok."
Port-O-Bella couldn't remember the last time she had had this kind of attention, or even given half that attention to her hair. She also hadn't seen it up so elegantly before. She never considered herself to be very pretty, just a happy-go-lucky pony with some.. not so legal habits and an appreciation for the earth.
Just when she was about to pursue this train of thought, the mare's attention became focused on tilting her head so that one blue eye looked through the violet pane of her glasses, and one eye didn't. She mumbled something about universal balance to herself.

Amber thought she heard the mare mutter something about balance, and assumed she was worrying about a symmetrical hairdo or some such thing. However, not knowing how to respond, she tied up the completed bun in a large scrunchie. "Well, now we have to wait to take it out", she said, admiring her work. "Oh - you can read this while ya wait!" With this, she handed her a magazine titled "Mane Care Monthly - The Scrunchie Issue!", with featured articles such as "Avoiding Disasters - how to recognise 'Hair Don'ts'" and "Try our new personality quiz to find the right hair style for you!" Then the pink pony leaned back and started a timer. (( Enjoy the magazine! ))

((hehe))
"Oh - you can read this while ya wait!"
Tobe raised an eyebrow as she suddenly had an issue of something called "Mane Care Monthly" in her white hooves. A smile formed on the mare's face, Man, I was so right! You DO only have to care for your hair like, once a month.. heh.
Lost in the magazine, Tobe tried desperately to grasp this thing that other mares called "glamor."

(From Mane Monthly - The Scrunchie Issue, page 46)
Mostly As - You are calm and serene - try something elegant, such as ringlets or a formal bun. Mostly Bs - You like things average, and ordinary - a simple style such as a ponytail would be best. Mostly Cs - Something wild and unique would be best - such as an all-new creation, or only some layers of hair crimped and not others. As/Cs - Wild and calm balance each other out - stick to hair down with a slight curl As/Bs - Since average and calm are your main traits, a simple bun or curly ponytail would be best - nothing too elegant or too simple Bs/Cs - Since you like somewhat average but also wild, perhaps a bun with strands of hair hanging loose or a ponytail with some locks of hair crimped would be best, or a new haircut to have your mane fall around your face in a whole new way.
