Flash stayed quiet as they walked to the store. As they stepped up to the door, Kimono holds it open for her. She gave her biggest smile as she walked in...and then her jaw dropped. Rows upon rows of books....she had never seen so many. A sob exits her mouth before she can stop it. A single tear slips down her face. Its like heaven, like a peice of her soul that has been missing...like, like, like everything. She gathered herself and took a deep breath, sucking in the sweet smell of new books. "oh my" she said in a small voice.

"It's wonderful, isn't it?" Kimono said in a gentle tone, never tiring of seeing so many bound literary works. The stallion took a deep breath and sighed quietly, feeling quite at home in the cozy bookstore.
"What genre are you interested in?" He asked, turning emerald eyes to the mare beside him.

She was overwelmed...maybe narrowing it down was a good idea. What did she like the best? "Well, maybe I should start on somesort of ponyville history. I know nothing about my new home really. Do you think they will have anything like that here?" she stammered. She would have been surprised if they didn't have every book that ever was held by little hooves here. It was wonderful, they might even have those two books she had been searching for!

Spookytale clopped into her shop. She had wanted to follow Ken, just because, but she'd lost him almost as soon as she'd started walking. She was going to look all over town, but in the distance she'd seen someone sneeze, and decided to hide out in her shop instead.
Colds often weakened her immune system, and that often led to a fit of CWS, which could leave her unable to do much of anything for weeks. Better to avoid any sneezes.
She was about to flop down and start reading magazines when she froze in place. Her mouth dropped, and cold sticky fingers shivered all over her coat. Her eyes grew wide and shimmery.
"Customers..." she whispered. "Whoa..."
She stood there, staring, for a good 30 seconds before jumping, clicking her hooves together, and running over.
"Oh gosh! Hi! Can I help you? Oh wait, I had this all planned out. Um, um, um....complementary coffee!" Spooky bolted over to the cafe area and tossed some coffee grinds into two cups, before stumbling back and shoving them at Flash and Kimono.
"If you don't see anything I can order it for you!" Spookytale ran out of things to say, and without knowing what else to do she sat down at one of the tables and nervously flipped through a catalogue of wallpapers.

Flash giggled at the excited Salespony...but boy was this coffee awful! She nodded her head at Kimono and stepped over to the bookseller. "Actually, I am looking for these two books...they are the second and third in this series...I have been looking for them for ages. The first ended on a cliffhanger and I need to know if this pony, Firefly, makes it or not!" Flash pulled out her well-worn and slightly tattered copy of 'escape from midnight castle' and passed it over. "Oh and my name is Flashfire and I am new in town...thanks so much for the help!" She stood and waited for Spookytale with her eyes glittering.

Spookytale got up and looked at the book. It looked well-loved, and she felt a little tingly holding it. She adored beloved stories, they helped her feel safe, like the world was more manageable. "Uhmphhhuhmmm....erm, I mean..." Spookytale snapped out of her reverie and looked around. "If we have them they'd be over here..." Spookytale started walking towards a section of the store. "And if we don't Tabs can order it for you, I'm sure." Spooky looked at the coffee, "Er, sorry. The previous owner was really good at coffee, but she's dead, and she has not come around to give me any pointers. She probably has her own things to deal with, though. Oooh...look." Spookytale ruffled through the books, and pulled out a crate of dusty books that the previous owner had left under a table. As much work as Spooky and Tabs had done to clean up, there would probably always be more to do. (ooc: Up to you if you want to find them, or not )

Flash was startled by the large dusty box, but she really wanted to find her books. Oh and she had wanted the history of ponyville too....but that could wait. She hoped Kimono didn't mind her holding him up...and with that thought she dug in. Ten minutes later, covered in dust and surrounded by a pile of books in various states of repair, she found book three in the series.."WHOOP!" she shouted with joy. Then she continued to dig.

Spookytale grinned, a warm happy glow suffusing her body. "Hurray for books," she said quietly, watching Flash. Then she looked up at Kimono. Startled, she squinted at him. "Oh, I recognize you from, from....um..."
The door made a pleasant sound as another pony entered. Spookytale's mind tripped over the fact that customers were arriving. While not very grand as far as grand openings went, it was pretty gosh darn awesome.
"You two are the first customers, did you know that? But, I guess I should go see to the third." Spookytale smiled brightly, but her smile looked a little frayed, like this was more socializing then she had been prepared for.

Kimono stood patiently, watching the mares converse over books. Right away the stallion knew which stories, and which books, Flash was referring to. Part of him wanted to tell her all about Ponyland's history. as well as the tales of Firefly. He wondered inwardly, in his quiet way, if Flash knew that Firefly was more than a legend, and that the actual pony lived not far off in Dream Valley. He had met the pegasus once, in a casual encounter, and didn't know her personally. But he did know of the land she called home.
The purple stallion's emerald eyes nearly glowed as Flash produced the well-worn book. He immediately felt a connection to her then--why, not many mares he'd known read regularly, much less cherished their books. A smile tugged at his lips.
Right then, he would have loved to produce the book for her, pehaps to give it as a gift. Instead, however, he watched with both amusement and admiration as the gray mare dug through the crate of old books. He peeked over her shoulder from time to time, wondering if she had found it yet. If she happened not to, he could always recite the story, practically by heart.
"Oh, I recognize you from, from....um..."
Kimono opened his mouth to speak, but before he could say anything, Spooky had gone to take care of another customer. He chuckled to himself softly, then turned back to Flash. "Any luck?"
