Forte followed the path along side the river, trying not to slip on the ice. He was tired after traveling for days and his caution was starting to ebb, but a near back-breaking fall a few minutes ago had renewed his focus on walking. Forte tripped again, causing him snort as he caught himself. "Way to go Forte. Keep this up and you'll arive in PonyVille with all four legs broken!"

Zinnia came bounding up the side of the river. Now where had that little critter gone? She had been chasing a bunny, or maybe it was a bushwoolie, until she lost sight of the thing. She noticed Forte and strode up to him, tripping and sliding on the ice until she caught up to him. "Hello," she said, oblivious to the fact that she had completely lost her sister.

Forte noticed the cheerful pony trotting up to him and held out a hoof to offer support if the pony should trip on the ice. Finally a pony! He must be getting closer to town. Clearing his throat, he introduced himself. "Hello! I am Forte. You wouldn't mind pointing me towards PonyVille, would ya? It's been a while and I can't recognize anything with all this snow!"

"Hi Forte," Zinnia grinned, "I'm Zinny." She looked around her, trying to get bearings of where she was. Finally she realized which way town was and pointed toward it. "If you go that way for a while, you'll reach the Neighborhood I think. Once you get there, you'll want to go ahead to main town, you know the CC Cafe and stuff." Since she didn't know where her sister and Tide had gone, she kept trotting after Forte.

"Sweet! Thank you Zinny." Forte started in the indicated direction, and upon noticing that Zinny was following him paused. "I think I am going to the CC cafe if you want to come along. I sure would enjoy the company. Why are you out here on such a nasty day anyway?"

"Well, I don't have anywhere to go, so I guess I'll come along," Zinnia grinned. She slid along beside him, having completely forgotten about her sister and the lost bunny/bushwoolie.
As the two were walking, High Tide spotted them. He alerted Spring Fever, who rushed over to her sister. "Zinny! Why did you go off?! I've been looking for you! Mom is going to skin you alive when she hears-" Zinny's ears flattened and she cowered in fear of her sister's rage. Spring sighed. "I'm glad you're safe. Say good-bye to you friend, we're going home." The little foal straightened up and gave a little sniffle. "Well, 'bye Forte. Maybe I'll see you around again." She slumped her shoulders and followed her sister back home.

"Good-bye Zinny," Forte said, suddenly uncomfortable in the presence of the other ponies, especially since they were upset. Hoping that he didn't get his new little friend in any more trouble than she already was, he watched the retreating trio disappear down the path. Snorting at the cold, Forte started on his own way. Ah well, at least he had gotten directions! He toke off at a gallop for town, excited to be in the home stretch of his journey, and eager for some food.
