It wasn't long before golden-colored hooves touched down at the riverside, and purple eyes scanned the waters for a well-known boat. Jewel had a feeling Roux would leave soon, as it wasn't his nature to linger in any one place for too long. However, she didn't anticipate it being this soon.
The rocky sand gave way under her steps as she walked to the edge of the gently flowing water which had washed away most of Roux's tracks. Looking down, she saw her reflection and stared into its eyes. Changes had come since she arrived in this place, over a year ago. Who was once more of a dunny-tan pony now shined with sunlight in a more golden glow. She had grown, become part of this place, or perhaps, part of herself. It was hard to believe that a year had passed so quickly. But then again, much had come to pass. Spreading her wings to their full extent for a brief moment, she breathed deeply and regarded herself: young, ambitious, and a picture of life. How things have changed...
Raising her head, the pegasus squinted as she scanned the empty waters again. He was gone, and she had been too late to say goodbye to him. She took no time to fret over the matter though, for she knew in her heart that by the time she got there, it would have been too late anyhow. That was part of Roux's legacy--the nomad, the gypsy. Jewel, too, had been a traveller once, but she felt now, that after so many homes and so many trials and tribulations, that she had finally found a place to stay.
And with that, a smile formed upon her lips and she took a deep breath of the river air. In time, Roux would return. She didn't know when, or why, but he would return. As for the present, she had plenty to keep her busy.. something of which was still somewhere in Ponyville. As she looked toward the down, black paws and gray talons came to the ground beside her. The sapphire-eyed griffin, who now stood shoulder-height next to his pegasus companion, cooed and scratched his claws into the soft dirt. Jewel looked at him and smiled, and with a few flaps of golden wings, set forth for the town once again.
