As Meera said that she could tell Sherbet's fortune, the orange filly jumped up from her crouch and did a spin, tripping over her tail and coming down on her chin as her teeth clanked together. She stood up and looked around, a frown on her face and her chin in her hoofs - that had not been fun. Not fun at all. And that was when she noticed that Kail was gone.
"Kail?" Looking around with tear-filled blue eyes she started to panic. Where had she gone? Did she leave Sherbet too? Was she ever coming back? Who was going to make all her owies feel better? "Mom!" she squeaked without thinking.
~~~~~~~
Karma smiled at the new aura near her who said hello, and gave a "good morning" in return. The mare had a calm aura, which was a pleasant surprise for the aura-reader, as the busy, colorful auras usually gave her a headache. If this mare wanted to adopt a child, Karma thought she might be able to suggest just the foals that would compliment her cool blues and greens.
Taking the helmet from Razz, Karma was too preoccupied to see the orange filly (to her eyes the bright orange, yellow, and turquois pony) fall, but as she yelped for Kail the dark pony turned in time to see the flush of red panic through her aura and the dark green spreading from her chin. "Oh honny," she smiled in pity and concentrated to change the sickly green back to her normal cheerful aura and ease the red away.
Sherbet blinked her tears away and looked around, wondering what had happened. She had felt the warmth like Kail's in her chin and it felt healed, but no one had touched her. Oh my Rainbows! I must be turning into a healer too!
"I have my question!" she said to Meera and jumped up and down.
Harvest Moon shifted restlessly, but he stayed near Meera and her fascinating fortune teller. He'd let Sherbet have her go while he thought of something.
Meera looked at Sherbet as the filly hurt herself and started to panic. Who's Kail?
But she didn't have long to wonder because shortly after Sherbet was back to her normal cheery self and was prepared with her question. "Okay - go ahead. And tell me your colors and numbers too."
"Ok, my question is: am I going to be a healer like Kail when I grow up, and my color is... um...." she was having a hard time deciding between orange and green. Kail was green, and she had the green stripe of the Rainbow, which meant she was a healer.... but Sherbet was orange! She thought perhaps since the question was about becoming a healer she best choose green. "Green! And my numbers are one and four."
Grinning, Sherbet watched as Meera made the little paper thing do its trick.
Harvest Moon watched Meera curiously, intent on seeing what it would say. He was very interested, for he sensed...something else at work here. Dainty ears flicked restlessly...he never could be completely still.
"Okay, let's see - G-R-E-E-N, one, and four." The filly opened the paper fortune teller in alternating directions six times, then gestured to the flap with the number '4' on it.
Meera didn't know how to change the answers correctly for this one, and didn't want to mislead her new friend, so she decided to let the fortune teller work some magic of its own. She held it out to Sherbet and gestured for her to lift the flap herself.
((Hm...on my real-life fortune teller I checked and a four is either a 'yes' or a 'maybe, leaning towards yes'. But I'll let you choose what you want it ti say.))
(haha, well I have plans for the little filly, but it will depend on what I do with Kail I guess)
Blue eyes watched intently as her new friend moved the fortune teller, flipping it open one way and then the other. When she stopped and held it out, a tenative orange hoof opened up the little flap and the filly held her breath while she looked at the answer.
maybe, leaning towards yes
A loud squeal pealed through the group as the little Explosion started to bounce around. "I'm gonna be a healer like Kail!"
Karma smirked as she saw not one thread of healing green in the child's aura. But let her think what she will while the peg was gone.
Meera smiled and turned to Harvest Moon. "Did you have a question ready?"
Twilight felt herself a little extra in the scene, so she stepped even further back, and smiled to the adult ponies.
"Eh, perhaps I have come at a bad time," she said. "You seem to be... hmm, busy."
She looked at the foals with an affectionate expression in her eyes. Foals were always like that, weren't they? Full of life... or that, at least, was the way they should have been. It was the time when they still should not have needed to worry about anything.
Suddenly, Loo got something on her mind about this fortune-telling. She walked towards Meera. "Ehm ... can you see into my future, too? Please?"
Harvest Moon gave yet another bounce, grinning. "Am I going to be good with swords some day?"
Karma might also be amused by this, for the little Fatum born flutter was a bundle of magic screaming 'mage!' and very few mages ever became adept with the sword. Still, there was a contradiction walking around Ponyville that very moment...
Meera noticed Honow Loo and grinned. Now she decided to leave the answers as what she'd written in - she really didn't need to make a fuss in a place where she was just hoping to fit in, and getting caught trying to mess with other foals' heads would not look good. "Yeah - we can tell everyone's fortune that wants it done..."
She noticed that it was about time to set off and turned to the others. "...But not right now!" Then the filly hurried over to the box of helmets and plunked a random one onto her head. Soon after she noticed it was a football helmet - it didn't exactly suit her, but she was too excited about scooters to care.
Karma did indeed notice that little Harvest Moon's aura held promise of a great power, whites and reds and purples combined to show what he was already starting to become. Twilight's words brought her out of her study of the young flutter's aura and she smiled in the dirrection of that aura. "I think it is always like this here, although I have only been here for a few hours myself."
Sherbet was still bouncing around, excited by the fortune teller, when Razz brought out the box of helmets. She bounced over to Razz and grabbed a knights helmet from the pile, plopping the too-big metal thing on her head and lifting the visor so she could still see. "Guess what Razz? I'm gonna be a healer just like Kail when I grow up!"
Dark smirked at Harvest Moon. "Well, maybe when you grow a little, I could teach you the way of the sword. Granted that my style has a good number of skills and manuvers included, but to weild a sword is to weil a sword, no matter who's teaching it comes from. Now that I think about it, Kenshin's sword mastery would be better, since he knows how to balence sword play with a few magic skills." Bringing up that suddenly reminded Dark of Shade, the noble stallion that had helped Karma and even Kail more than once in his life. He shook his head sadly; He was at peace now, reunited with his love.
With a smile, he lughtly nudged Karma with a hoof. "Your not really insane enough to take a ride on that thing, are you? Bothing to even be in love with me is crazy enough, but rideing with Razz seems just plain nuts."
Meera cocked an ear towards Dark, and heard him talking about Razz's driving. Too young to know that it was all in fun, she was upset that another pony was talking about Razz in such a way. She'd already ridden with him on the scooter, and had felt safe. And he had been nice to her - she wasn't too used to adults being nice to her.
"Razz is safe", she said softly. And then more firmly: "Razz is safe."
