Breezie cantered up towards the toy shop, not bothering to catch her breath along the way. She had caught wind that the new line of My Mini Horsie figures had just come into stock. She screeched to a halt upon realizing she was about to pass the shop in her elation.
She was trying to keep a contained trot as she headed to the door, but caught something out of the corner of her eye that made her stop breathing.
There, standing in the display window for all to see, was Katherine, the toy she had been literally dreaming about ever since she saw her picture in Toy Monthly. She was so much more impressive in person. Immediately, she was no longer a toy. She was a real, live horsie trotting across the countryside, sparks flying up with every step from her horseshoes of real cut diamond.
Katherine's coat was white, but nothing like Breezie's. For it had a grey, dappley patterning beneath the surface. Her mane, white with sandy coloring, was just as spectacular. And when the revolving display stand spun at an angle so that she caught the light, the glossy coat of paint came alive, slicing the rays into all the colors of the rainbow so that they could dance around her in a brilliant light show. Breezie gave a sigh.
"Why can't I look like that?"
As she stared at the figure, her idol, she gave another long, sappy sigh. Breezie was so enthralled with the display she didn't even notice when a small whirlwind made a pile of dry leaves dance around the sidewalk. She finally tore her gaze from the magnificent horse and headed for the toy shop door.
