Dash heard hoofsteps behind him as he headed down the street toward the shop, and knew Tristan was following. He glanced over his shoulder at the other stallion and gave him another smile.
When he reached the shop he very briefly extended his telekinesis to retrieve the key from where he'd hidden it under a flowerpot. Employing his seldom-used power in this way, his hiding place for the shop key could remain a secret.
Unlocking the shop door, he stepped inside, the bell above the door jingling, then poked his head back out, holding the door open for his companion.

A pierced brow raised as the key to the shop seemingly appeared. Deciding it best not to ask, he shrugged it off.
Quietly walking into the store, Tristan smiled his thanks to Dash for holding the door open.
Stepping farther into the store, he began to survey his surroundings. The stallion had himself a nice place.

Bowing slightly as Tristan entered, Dash flipped the sign on the door to "Open", then closed it behind him and turned to face his companion. "Well," he said, as he flipped on the rest of the lights from the master switch by the counter, "welcome to Dash!" He gestured around. "It's not much...but it's mine." He grinned. I hope that didn't come out as lame as I think it did, he thought with an internal frown.

Tristan smirked. That was great. He wasn't about to make a smartalec comment.
Making his way over to the counter, he shrugged. "At least you've got something."
Looking off to the side, strands tri-colored hair fell over his eyes.

"Yeah," Dash agreed, giving the other stallion a considering look, wondering what he had meant by that statement. "There are so many in this world who have far, far less." He lowered his ears briefly, but then put them forward again almost immediately. "So, you never told me your name." One ear flicked. "I like to know my customers' names...or even those of potential customers." He smiled his same disarming smile.

Blowing the hair out of his sight, he turned to look at Dash. "Too many, in my opinion."
Tristan studied the stallion carefully. He couldn't help but to wonder what was going through his mind at that statement. Pushing the question into the back of his mind, he softly chuckled at Dash's question.
"It's Tristan." He gave a bright, yet sideways smile- returning his attention to the jewelry around him.

Dash bowed low over one foreleg. "Pleased to meet you, then, Tristan." I wonder if he knows his name means "sad"? Dash thought. I wonder if that gives any clue to his personality?
He followed Tristans gaze to the racks and display cases containing his work. "See anything you like?" he asked. "It's all hoof-made by me, and I do custom work as well."

He continued to study the racks and displays of jewelry. "Same to you..."
It wasn't until after Dash asked him a question, that Tristan turned to look at the blue-gray stallion. "You're good." He'd let the pony opposite him figure out exactly what he meant by that.
He flicked one ear. "Have anything you'd recommend for a lip ring?"

Dash tried to keep the proud beam off his face as he bowed again. "I thank you," he answered softly. He loved it when others praised his work; it made him feel as though it was all worthwhile.
Stepping over to one of the display cases and peering into it, he hummed in thought. "We don't see many piercings in Ponyville," he said. "And it's usually ears. Gotta be a brave pony to put a hole in your lip, I guess." He glanced over his shoulder at Tristan and grinned. "But I do have an assortment of liprings, eyebrow rings, cartiledge rings...et-accessorizing-cetera. You never know who might come in." His voice changed as he spoke; he sounded professional now. This was business. He walked around behind the counter and slid open the door, pulling out one of the velveteen-covered display cards. "There are these," he said. "This black hoop would match your coat nicely...and it has an iridescent sheen to it when hit by direct light..." he nudged the card a bit closer, so Tristan could easily peruse the selection.

Tristan mentally grinned at the change in the stallion's behavior. The comment about being brave, made him snort. "If that's what you want to call it."
He listened quietly as Dash spoke. Leaning forward he looked at the black hoop. "Positive it'll look fine?"

He chuckled. "Well, I certainly wouldn't do it. I may make jewelry...but the only holes I want in my body are the ones that nature put there." He laughed lightly.
He tilted his head down at the black hoop. "Well I think it will look good, but the best way to find out is to try it on." He reached below the counter and pulled out a small bottle of disinfectant, then pulled the lipring off its backing and dipped the post of the hoop in the liquid. Nodding a bit, he extended it toward Tristan.

"Is that right?" He couldn't help but to comment on that line. "Holes don't bother me."
He watched Dash with a confident look. Taking the obvious hint, Tristan removed the silver hoop from his lip. He'd gotten used to replacing and removing the rings by this point.
Slipping the ring in, he looked at Dash. He raised an eyebrow. "Yes? No?"

Dash snorted. That whole exchange sounded kinda wrong...ah well.
He stepped back and regarded the new ring impaling Tristan's lip with a critical eye. "Mmm, well, I think it looks good. But here, see for yourself." He reached beneath the counter again and pulled out a mirror on a goose-necked stand, twisting it around toward Tristan. Reaching up, he adjusted one of the overhead lights in its little socket so the beam would highlight the ring's iridescent highlights.

Tristan tilted his head as he studied his reflection. The iridescent highlights were a nice touch. "Looks good to me."
Bi-colored eyes flicked up to look at Dash. "You wouldn't mind piercing a few things for me, would you?"

Dash smiled. "Glad you like it." It looks good on him... Dash loved to see his work adorning others, another thing that made him feel things were worthwhile and that he had a place in the world. He smiled at the question. "No, of course not...what do you want done?"
