Maybe I'm too much of a noob to know, but I've been wondering about the Northlands that is located on the map and that has been referred to on character bios. Has there ever been a Northlands rpg? Or what's the story? I'm just curious.

Well, maybe not *just* curious. *blushes* I'm actually hoping I could bring the place alive with an RPG of my design, in case the story with Northlands allows for it... I'm from the North myself, hehe, so this interests me... even more so because I'd like to put some old Scandinavian and Finnish mythos into it.

Well, the Northlands are mountinous and cold, and generally the snowy-themed ponies come from there. Shadoweaver knows more than I do about them though, so you might want to PM her (she hasn't been on in a while - I'm not sure when she might reply)

Ok, I'll ask her then. I just have rather great an idea and I was hoping I might have made it a sister site, but it requires me to get a hold of the name Northlands... ahh well, I'll look into it more. Thanks in any case.

Northlands? I´m psotive - I´m a scandinavian too! ^^ But when I think nothlands, I think ponies without much technology. A land ruled by the aurora, with orcas and cute lil' seals.

Actually, in the Ponyville Northlands they are more tech advanced. Maybe if I would actually get off my lazy butt and write the history up finally people would know this

*winks to Whis* Go us! We're actually practically neighbours, as far as I've understood... As for Northlands, I'm actually now thinking I would like to do Winterlands instead, and more on the style Whis was talking about. Would that be possible? They would also be in the north, but either to the west or east from Northlands, very far from all civilisation, so to speak, at the very edge of pony existence - veerrry cold and rough. Is that possible, or does Northlands cover the entire north? *is disappointed if yes*

*smiles* Hmm...when saying "Northlands", doesn´t that mean as far north you can come? Or, is it? I imagened the nature to be similar to the one in the Disney movie "Brother Bear", or something like that.

Ooh, yeah, Brother Bear kind of landscape would at least be what I'd want to have for the rpg I'm planning. But I was hoping that there might be some spot that wouldn't be that which is Northlands but that would be something... else. Like there's Greenland, and then there's Iceland. I've drawn a map of a place that could be a sister site assuming there is room up north for it somewhere. If not, then I'll probably have to make it a separate ponyworld and hope people will be interested. Well, we'll see. I've just been reading up on Finnish mythology (I'm a Finn and not afraid to admit it ;D) and Norse mythology, and fantasy's always been close to my heart so I was thinking of doing an rpg mixing up those themes with the pony thing. I'm especially interested in having the ponies of this place of mine (goes currently under the title of Dreamlands) worship the aurora/northern lights as the Dancing Rainbow, one form of that great rainbow thing. I wonder if people would be interested in it.

Well, I suppose if you went far to the east or west away from the bulk of the Northlands and Ponytown (which is the most advanced) then it could be wilderness and such. *shrugs* It doesn't much matter to me so long as you don't take ponytown and make them all live in tents As far as calling it Dreamlands, the only problem there is that people may get it mixed up with Dream Valley. But I like Norse Mythology, and just took a class on runes, so I love that part of the game already! Although I don't have time to join until after the wedding. You can always make a post asking if anyone would be interested?

*nods* I'm still browsing through options for the name, that's just the working title, so far, so I might come up with something better. In any case, I think I'll ask around if people would be interested. It'll take a long time preparing, in any case, coz I was planning the place to be rather... ehh, big. And there would be ocean there, too, if there's no problem with that. I can show you the map sometime.

Isn´t "Northlands" the name of the entire northern lands, togheter? Oh, scandinavian mythology - runes, gods and Sleipnir!

Northlands? You know, it does sound like it's the whole northern lands. But anyway, I am interested in it. I'll join it if it comes back.

The Northlands as it exists in my mind is quite Nordic. Tyr is from there, after all. Other than that, and its part in the Mage War millenia ago, not much has been established for it, history-wise.

I imagine Delta would be from there if it's a snowy place and such but I doubt she'd be from a place with technology...
