Gosh, everyone here has been having terrible luck, hmm?
Well I still can't really believe it, but earlier today, on the long drive home from my grandpa's house, my family(my brother, mom, and I were there - my dad was still at home) got into a horrible car crash. And I mean really horrible. We were lucky on so many levels, really.
My mom lost control of the car - we're still not sure why. But she nearly swerved into a car, and when we turned the other way the car wouldn't go in the way she was steering it, and refused to stop. We skidded full-force into the dividing rail between the sides of the freeway. It was all a bit of a blur, mostly because I wasn't watching for much of it. Since apparently I can keep cool in such situations, when I realized we were going to hit something I thought of broken glass from the windows and closed my eyes, and stopped breathing in so I wouldn't inhale any glass powder.
Thankfully my whole family is OK, including my guinea pig who was traveling with us. Luckily I'm paranoid enough about his safety to buckle his carrier in when he's in the car, or he would've gone flying into the windshield. The nice people that stopped to make sure we were OK(they were right behind us and witnessed the crash) said we "flipped over", but I think it really just spun a lot.
I was sitting on the side of the car where we smashed into the rail, but I really didn't feel a thing. I just heard this awful noise. The man at the rental place(our car was totaled, so we had to drive a rental the two hours home) said if my door hadn't been locked, I could easily have been crushed.
I might elaborate later, but my head's still spinning. I can't believe it happened.
