Hi, how's it going? Last Thursday night, I ended up in the ER with a bilateral pulmonary embolism. If you don't know, a pulmonary embolism is like a heart attack or a stroke, only it happens in the lungs. Mine was bilateral, meaning it occured in both lungs. It was caused by massive blood clots, which originated in my legs and then migrated to my lungs. The doctors believe it was a post partum complication from my pregnancy. Luckily, I live to tell the tale. I almost died. It was horrible, scary. I'm expected to make a full recovery, but I'll be on special drugs for the next year. I feel really good today. Still a bit shaken and scared, but just darn glad to be breathing. Kind thoughts are more than welcome. Soooo...I might not be back to RPing just yet. But I think this is a darn good excuse.

I'm really going to try to make good on that no more near-death experiences thing! I've had enough of that! Scary stuff. I was home alone when it happened and I couldn't get to the phone. Bandit brought me the phone (bless his little doggie heart), but by the time I got it, I couldn't even remember how to dial. I was that close to passing out. Fortunately, my mother-in-law just happened to call and I was able to answer and get help. I'm on some good drugs now, which should keep me safe. They say there is a very small chance of having additional problems, so I should be fine and fully recovered in nine months to a year.

*hugs* I'm so happy you're okay, Sil. And I don't believe I ever congratulated you on your baby, she's gorgeous. Bandit must be a really smart dog to bring you the phone! My dog's not so bright, he ate all my chocolate today...

Oh no oh no oh no! *hugs* I'm glad you're ok! And I'm glad your dog's smart, and everything worked out so you could get help in time! EDIT: ...And then later I decided I just had to ask... Did you train your dog to get you the phone, or was he being really really amazing?

Holy Carp!!!
No dying Sil! I've had enough family near deaths and deaths the past month to last me for years, no needing to add you to the list!
*snugs* Just take it easy, k?

I'm taking it very easy, except I have this intense desire to move my legs every 10 minutes. They told me movement was a good defense against the clots, so now I can't seem to sit still!
I taught Bandit to bring me things as a part of his therapy. He's very smart, but he's special needs because he's socially challenged. He doesn't do well in strange surroundings, just gets very anxious and nervous. This leads to aggression. He needs consistent, firm leadership to keep him stable. He's a lot of work, but it was necessary to control his behavior. In anyone else's hands, he probably would have been put down. A part of me thinks he was returning the favor, or at least someone was watching over us and wanted us to be together. My cell phone was on the coffee table. He noses something and I say yes bring it or no that's not it. We just kept going until he found the phone.

Oh my gosh. That's what I'd call a miraculous couple of chances - both that you had taught your dog to bring you things, and that your mother in law called. Wow wow.
What were your symptoms? Sorry to be morbidly curious... Could you not breathe?
So scary. And I am so, SO glad you're ok!
