Hollow began to shift his hooves back and forth again.
"Here and there," he said with a shrug. "Not really anywhere. I had a lot of... thinking to do."

"Oh ok..." Moony just realised that she had been asking alot of questions... actually a fair bit too many. It seemed to be taking effect on her companion, unless it was the lack of the promised food. So the mare decided it was time to simply shut up about the matter and not question him about his past anymore...
She picked up the menus on the table and handed one to him, her smile still imprinted pleasantly upon her white face. "Here, select what you want to eat." She said to him. "If you are unsure about anything, ask me, and if I don't know, I'll ask a waitress."

Hollow took the menu, nodding his thanks to the mare. He was happy that the interrogation was over.
"Thanks," he said as he buried his muzzle into the menu. It didn't take long to choose. He was so hungry he couldn't pass on the most filling portion on the menu. He put the menu on the table and started looking for a waitress with his eyes. He had no intention of letting the mare pay, of course - he had worked up some money on a mercenary gig a while back, so he could very well pay for himself.

Moony selected the crossiant, warm with butter and rainbowberry jam, and a strawberry thickshake, a would be usual for her, so it didn't take long until she also was looking for a waitress. She glanced at Hollow every now and then without any thought; there was just something about this stallion she found intriguing...

Hollow finally spotted a waitress and waved at her. When she came to the table he made his order and then looked at Moony expectantly, appearing as though he was the one offering her dinner, and not the other way around.

Moony blinked when Hollow made his order and then turned to look at her. Although confused about the strange feeling she was getting from the situation, the unicorn made her order as well.

After the waitress was gone with their orders, Hollow turned to the unicorn again.
"So..." he began, a bit nervous to continue the conversation again but feeling it was the polite thing to do, "what do you do here? For a living, I mean."

((My bad for replying late. been busy. ^-^' sorry Cres))
The unicorn thought hard on this question. "What I do for a living?... no ones ever asked me that before... I don't do anything!!
"Err, I don't really... do much." Moony said somewhat hesitantly. Her cheeks were going red again; it didn't quite occur to her before that she really didn't do anything. Well, other than watch over the appartment and do the shopping, the unicorn just floated around the town. She found the thought embarrassing. Might as well say out the truth...
"I kinda just look after my friends place. Nothing very significant..." She added quietly. I probably appear to you as a boring mare now... I need a job...

[[Never worry. I been busy too. ]] He was a little surprised that she didn't have a job. Then again, he didn't have one himself. He found her blushing rather sweet, however. "Oh, then we're two of a kind," he said with a smile, tossing his mane a bit to get his fringe off his face. "I don't really have a job, either. Well, I've done a little mercenary business lately, but mostly I just sort of... drift."

Moony smiled at the other, feeling oddly comforted by what he said. It was a strangely pleasant feeling when someone else was in similar shoes to yourself.
"Mercenary business? What does that include though?"

Hollow curled up his upper lip a bit disdainfully.
"Fighting other people's battles, for the most part," he said dryly. Then he shrugged and looked down. "Well, that's what it used to be, anyway. Nowadays, it's mostly guarding other people's property, especially across distances. Our last job was to escort a carrot cargo from one little town to another. Didn't pay up too well, but one survives." He gave a little laugh. "Rogue wasn't very pleased. He kept saying he didn't get on the business to babysit a bunch of carrots."

Like a ray of sun come down from the heavens themselves, the partial yellow stripe of the Rainbow descended on the Cafe and the pony it was seeking. This one wasn't your garden variety Rainbow-worshiping pony, but then again, neither had the last yellow Champion been. Wrapping first around a single strand of black mane and then spread to cover his head, then down across his body and finally to the tip of his tail. As the bright yellow light surrounded him, it started to sink in, leaving only a faint glow behind.
Fight for me, Hollow Heart, and I will pay you in riches greater than those you could ever know. Guard what I hold dear and I will pay up well. I will make you a Champion of mine, if you only accept this gift.
(To finish the process Hallow's just gotta basically agree and a "second symbol" will show up. It can be anything you like, but its gotta be yellow. He's also going to hold a faint yellow glow for a while, like an aura.)

[[allrighty *jumps up and down with excitement*]] Hollow Heart was completely overtaken by surprise when the yellow stripe invaded him. He had never, in his wildest dreams, expected anything like this to happen. But still, when it did happen, he was suddenly filled with strange... calmness. As though this was something he had waited his entire life to happen. He drew in a deep breath. He did not know where the words came from, yet they did. I accept, he said in his mind, certain that the light, the power, whatever it was, would understand. And so the bargain was struck. He flinched a little inwardly when the second symbol glimmered to the surface from his very soul, it seemed to him. He bent his neck a little to look at the glowing strands of yellow light that drew wavy lines around his symbol, creating a sort of aura around it. When the light grew dimmer, it still did not fade completely from the rest of his body, and he could feel the power inside him, strange, yet not unwelcome. He forgot himself staring at the wavy yellow lines surrounding his symbol. Now it truly looked like a star. His mind worked hard, but he could not comprehend the symbolism hidden there. [[Is this symbol ok? I thought it would look nice. (oh, and to make sure, it's HOllow, not HAllow... I'm guessing maybe it's a typo but thought to make sure you noticed it since Hallow would kinda change the meaning of his name. ]]

[[no prob. It happens.]]
Hollow shivered. The world seemed suddenly so changed to him. He turned his eyes slowly from his symbol to the mare sitting on the opposite side of the table. The glow about him glimmered on him like golden sunlight, though it was fading slowly now. His dark corn coat was set ablaze by the glow, and his black mane caught a strange halo. While the light slowly dimmed, absorbing into him, as did the new power he intuitively knew he had, he quietly recognised the mare.
He knew she was one of them. One of the Rainbow. One with him now. He did not know where this strange wisdom came from, he only knew he now had insight into things he had never even known existed before. The Champions, and the Rainbow. A fight for a cause he had never believed in.
Well, he was chosen. He had accepted. He would never know why. But he had accepted, and it was all over now.
The last sparkles of sunlight faded from his coat. He still looked at the mare, recognition in his eyes. But suddenly it felt to him there was nothing to be said here. A new coldness enveloped his heart as he realised what he had been doing. What his heart had been doing without his permission. They would share a road. He did not want them to share anything more. What more could there ever be for him? The pony with the hollow heart.
