The purple stallion dragged slightly behind, but not far enough to lose the party. He felt dazed, fatigued, and greatly looking forward to a good night's rest. But first things first, he needed to assist his friends. It wasn't typical for Kimono to have many close friends, and he liked this bunch. And so, he wouldn't easily abandon them.
"Tell me more about that pony you fought."
Tsuwari bounced and sprang on his hooves, constantly turning this way and that to talk to Peri and illustrate his story, "There was this big mean pony and he was gonna get my mama so I.. I ran at him and I used my horn like this," The small foal charged a few feet ahead and swung his head back and forth with a snarl, "And I think Mama was scared but I knew I could take him and I had to I mean he was so big and mean and then I did it again," He leapt this time, kicking up his little orange-red heels, "And then he just vanished and it was like WHOOSH because I beat him so bad!!"
The little colt grinned proudly, stamping his feathered feet and waiting for Peri to commend his skills.

Peri watched with a glancing eye, trying his best to discern his way. He wasn't too drunk, was he? He paused, blinked, rubbed his eye, then continued. Tsuwari's playful antics weren't entirely unexpected. Peri played around a lot like that himself. Play acting, pretending. He had grown into the habit of making elaborate tales of things he had done to try and over compensate for the lost of his eye. Now that he was an adult, it wasn't necessary.
"I'm sure your mom was proud of you, right Rose?" He glanced back and she looked up.
"Yes." She stumbled at first. "Tsuwari surprised me that night. He should've been in bed."
But her rebellious heart wasn't into the conversation. That night all too well was hard to reflect upon. However her mind lingered on what her foal has asked her at the cafe moments earlier. How could she explain the prejudice against them? Against him?
Her red ears flattened against her head as she cast her gaze downward, suddenly interested in the ground as she walked. Sided, she murmured to Kimono, "Out of all the books you've read, you haven't crossed a manual on parenting?"

"Yes." She stumbled at first. "Tsuwari surprised me that night."
Tsuwari grinned and held his head high.
"He should've been in bed."
The foal winced, and resumed a more normal stance, smiling hopefully as he glanced back at the adults. But it was a good thing I WASN'T in bed!
"Out of all the books you've read, you haven't crossed a manual on parenting?"
Kimono chuckled softly, and sniffled. "I wouldn't be concerned with your parenting, Rose," He said quietly, eyes fixed downwards a bit. "It's especially challenging with.. the heritage Tsuwari has, but you handle it with a lot of grace." He paused, glancing up at the energetic foal, "And you've raised him well."

Rose stopped as Kimono's words hit her. She eyes him incredulously at first. Then a small smile pulled on her lips and she looked back to him with a thankful expression.
"Really?" Her voice held a note of surprise. "You have no idea how much that means to me."
Her purple eyes followed Kimono's gaze to Tsuwari. Her smile remained, although it faded to one of more apprehension. Tsuwari was a smart colt. He would not just forget his earlier questions. It was not an excuse to believe they would not resurface just because he was easily distracted. Glayse was cunning, and so Rose suspected of Tsuwari. He'd manage to weasel an answer out of her, somehow.
The true question was: Should she avoid the issue further or put it to rest immediately?

"Really?" Her voice held a note of surprise. "You have no idea how much that means to me."
Kimono smiled, then turned his head forward again as his cheeks turned slightly fuscia. In his eyes, he only spoke the truth. The eggplant-colored stallion turned his head away from Rose courteously as he stifled a few shallow coughs.
"...and then we were on the beach and there was this big pony with antlers like, like a deer! And he was so weird and I was just like WHOA, but then this pony come with popsicles.." Now that he had gotten Peri's attention, he was reluctant to lose it, "I really like popsicles.. the mare gave me an orange one, like the big orange pony!"

"Like the big orange pony...," Peri delicately repeated, treading on shaky waters. The stallion presumed that Glayse had been living with Rose since his "rebirth." Really, was there any other place the stallion would go? With Rose the evil stallion had a roof over his head, an easy source of food, his off spring, and a mare to wait on him hand and hoof.
Somewhere knowing this didn't settle well with Peri. Rose was a strong individual. She was taking Tsuwari with good strides, but allowing herself to stay glued to Glayse's hip was beyond him. He imagined this was half due to her young age. It was possible she had never left the "but I love him" stage.
Peri snorted in disgust. Usually he didn't feel so hard over everything. Must still have been the drinks.
Rose's pace remained slow as the river neared in sight. So many memories there, and in her home. She wondered just briefly where Glayse actually was.

"Look Ma! The River!" Tsuwari managed not to hear Peri's repitition of his mention of the Big Orange Pony. The little colt yawned, and blinked a few times, then shook his white mane as if to deny that he was tired in the least.

Rose looked more directly at Tsuwari than her previous weary glances. It meant they were easily within reach of home. Knowing of this, she looked pointedly at Peri.
"I think we can make it from here. Thank you." She assured him, and turning to Kimono as she said the later.
With a false air of confidence, the red unicorn stepped ahead of Peri and to Tsuawri's side. Smiling, she looked down to him. "Hm, someone's tired."
Peri, doubly noted, and with a drunkenly seriousness, "Oh yes. So tired. A bed sounds heavenly right now."
It was nearing the time where one at his level of intoxication was ready to crash.

"Hm, someone's tired."
"No I'm noooot!" Tsuwari fought to smother another yawn as it took over his features. He sighed, then snorted. Defiant as ever, the little foal would avoid bedtime as long as he possibly could.
"Have a good evening, Rose," Kimono bid politely, nodding his head. "We'll see you two around."
"Oh yes. So tired. A bed sounds heavenly right now."
"You can say that again," Kimono said softly, yawning. "Let's get back to the Castle, huh?" The purple stallion nodded one last time to Rose, then turned, moving his head in such a way as to encourage Peri along.

"Lead on." Peri off handedly mumbled to Kimono, and as a testament of parting. He wobbled after the fuchsia stallion with an odd form of grace.
Rose could only wonder how he remained standing.
With a silent nudge to the smaller foal, Rose led by his side the path to her quiant fenced off little country home. Once inside, she dropped her purse on the kitchen counter and turned once more to Tsuwari.
To answer or not to answer?
