Gibberish walked into the grocery store rather timidly. She didn't feel herself comfortable among so many ponies, and these modern places scared her as well. Having spent most of her life as wandering mercenary and having visited even the far north, she didn't feel herself comfortable with all these luxuries.
Though she had to admit that electricity was a nice invention.
She looked around the place and stopped in the middle of the floor uncertainly, her other back hoof twitching just slightly as though she was about to dash off in fright any moment. Where should she have found the flowers?

Crown walked along the aisles of the store quietly, her hoof-falls soft and noiseless as though she was walking on feathers. She didn't like making noise. Noise was bad. Silence, softness, that was how you heard the fairies better. She stepped aside from a little mudpool only she could see on her dangerous way along the pathway in the midst of trees only she knew to be there. All these other ponies were such silly things, she imagined they probably didn't even know of the wizard that lived up in the rooftop.
She saw the spring green pony ahead, her other leg twitching. Crown smiled and wondered if she were lost. It was no wonder, in this forest, no wonder at all.
"Excuse me," she said softly just next to Gibberish, who had not noticed her silent approach. "Can I help somehow?"
Gibberish looked up at the other mare, slightly frightened over her sudden appearance. She shifted away and drew her ears a little back, lifting one forefoot as if about to run away.
"I'm... I'm looking for the flowers." She examined the other mare carefully. Well, she looked all right to her.
Crown smiled and brushed off some imaginary fairy dust from her mane. She didn't want the other to notice that she was just coming from a secret meeting with the queen of Tír na nÓg.
"Oh, flowers," she said. "I know where there are some. Right this way."
She turned and Gib, unsuspecting that there might be anything strange with the other mare, followed her.

Citrus hurried to seek shelter inside the closest shop. She doged inside, paniking to avoid the slight drizzle outside. The young mare looked around, seeing that she had entered a flower shop. She shook a few drops of rain from her tail, like a cat that had been out in a storm. She tapped the ground with her forehooves, uneasily.

[[sorry I didn't get back to you earlier. I've been sort of busy]]
Crown had taken Gibberish to the flowers quickly, but appeared to have forgotten all about her as her attention was turned to one especially beautiful bush of roses. She imagined she had seen a fairy escape behind a flower there and was now putting her nose into the bush, a dreamy look on her face.
Gibberish glanced at the other mare nervously while skimming through the flowers. She wanted something red for her garden. Red, red, red...
Her ears turned sharply towards the noise when Citrus entered the shop. She turned to look as she felt a few sprinkles of water all over her.
"Goodness!" she said and hurried to the door. "It isn't raining, is it?" Her expression was desperate. She didn't want heavy rain to spoil her way back to her cottage. After noticing that there was merely a drizzle, she relaxed a little.

[Oh, It's OK. I've been busy as well. ^^; And jeez, I meant dodged...or darted?]
"Goodness! It isn't raining, is it?"
Looking alarmed, Citrus threw a startled look at the window. No, it was still drizzling. She had been very lucky. If she hadn't been able to dart into this building in time... A chill ran down her spine. That would have meant that some ponies walking down the street would have found a weird, finned creature. There was no way Citrus could manage to crawl her way to the beach from here without being seen. She looked shyly at the mare. "Nah, it's just..." Citrus knew that the mare could see for herself that it was merely raining. Feeling embarrassed, the white youngster fell silent.

Gib turned to Citrus, half startled for her speaking to her. She felt too many strange mares had been coming to talk to her out of the blue that day. But she didn't want to be rude. So she attempted a smile.
"I'm just going to buy some flowers," she explained to her, scratching on her other forefoot with her hoof nervously. "And heavy rain would... kind of... spoil them."
She didn't know what else to say. By this time, Crown had noticed the new mare, however, and she walked across the little way to her, her movements almost liquid in their gracefulness. She was a princess now, a princess wandering in the magical woods of the forgotten lands.
"Hello," she said with her most pleasant voice. "What brings you to this part of the woods?"

Citrus did not know what to reply when the mare spoke to her. She had no experience at all about flowers. She felt very embraced now. What would a pony do in a store like this if not looking for flowers? Avoiding the rain? Jeez, that would sound very suspicious. So the youngster turned to smell a pretty Phalaenopsis, but her gaze fell on a second pony.
"Hello. What brings you to this part of the woods?"
Perplex, Citrus backed a step right into a table. But the pots on it merely wobbled. "Woods?" Realizing that she shouldn't have said that out loud, Citrus felt even more puzzled. "Well, I'm fine," she replied, sounding polite. But she was not very certain what question she was answering, and she really did not want to mention the drizzle outside.

Gibberish looked at Crown with a face that said "what the hell are you talking about?" She had thought the other mare rather weird, but now she was almost frightened. Where was she living?
Crown wasn't embarrassed for a moment. This new mare seemed interesting. Perhaps she was a princess, too, or possibly a magical creature, looking for her way home. Yes, she decided there was certainly some magic here. Her expression was pleasant and serene, and she felt - imaginary - fairy dust still sprinkling off from her mane. She felt a little uncomfortable at that. The Queen of Tir na nOg had specifically told her not to let anyone know she had been there.
"Good," she said, having heard an entirely different answer to her question from what Citrus was giving her. She smiled to her, convinced now that the other mare was somehow special. "You know, I have a magic wishing well," she told her with a hushed voice.
Gibberish was blinking intensely now. She was getting nervous with the strange mare.
[[heh, I'm just realising this is a bit of a freak-meeting - Gib and Crown are both a little "off", and Citrus isn't normal in other ways]]

Citrus could have laughed out loud, but the thought of water made her shiver violently. "Very well..." she replied, but her confident voice switched into a frightened one in mid-sentence. She did not wish to sound impolite. She was sure this mare was nice, (at least not dangerous), and she did not want her to think that it was her she was afraid of. "Um...my name's Citrus." ...Sweetheart

"I'm Gibberish," Gib said, grabbing the opportunity to talk with someone sensible for a change, even if she usually was rather unsociable. Crown was freaking her out, and the little sphere hidden within her mane was glowing an uneasy warmth against the back of her neck. "Pleasure to meet you." She looked at her curiously. "Are you here to buy some flowers too?"
Crown, for her part, lost interest in the two of them as she heard the imaginary chime of fairy's wings from one bush. She lithely moved there, and pushed her head into the bush, frowning at the tiny creature only she could see, fluttering its wings and trying to tell her some important message. She forgot herself there, trying to tell to the fairy with her facial expressions that she should be more quiet, lest she should be spotted.

[Hehe, this thread is lovely.]
"As a matter of fact," said Citrus nervously, "...I am." She regretted her reply, but it was too late. She had no money either. "Er - shoot, I forgot my purse." Citrus Sweetheart grabbed the opportunity to slightly switch direction. "So, what are you looking for?" Lame. But that was the best she could think of.

[[indeed ]] Gib didn't really care if the other was there to buy flowers, hence she ignored her a bit feeble excuse, and looked over at the rows and rows of flowers. "Well, I'm not entirely sure. Something red for a spot in my garden," she said as she walked closer to one rose bush, putting her nose closer to the flowers. At that moment Crown had heard another chime of fairy wings from the bush Gib was sniffing, and she tossed her head up from the one she had been buried into. She galloped to Gib, pushed her aside and stuck her head inside. "Shh," she whispered to the fairy that she saw sitting on one of the leaves in the middle of the rose bush, chiming away. "They might hear you." Then she picked her head out of the bush again and looked at the others, smiling a nervous, "oh, nothing's wrong here, move along, move along" -kind of a smile. "Hehe, you shouldn't put your nose inside, dear, the thorns might... uhh, sting." And she pushed her own head inside the bush again. Gibberish was starting to blink violently again. This pearly green mare was getting on her nerves.

Citrus watched the scene in silence. The white-maned mare seemed to act...weird.
"Oh - perhaps I could help you looking?" Citrus said, braking the silence, but still watching Crown with raised eyebrows. She backed away a few steps and looked around. "Is she a friend of yours?" She asked quietly, jerking her head toward Crown.

Gib looked at Citrus, shaking her head furiously and looking at Crown with an equally weirded-out expression, while the pearly mare kept whispering to the imaginary fairy inside the rose bush.
"Definitely not," she said back, shuddering a little. "I just asked for directions to the flowers from her." She smiled a bit to Citrus. "I don't think she's exactly... ok in the head."

C-ocking her head sideways, Citrus made big eyes. What was the matter with the green mare? She merely shrugged. Inhaling some air, she caught the virus that the ponies where carriers of. "Look, there's something red over there," she said in a attempt to change the subject. Three feet away was a small table with a couple of mid-sized flowers. They somehow reminded Citrus of dandelions.
