"I'm offering you an opportunity to see how the dark mind works unfettered with the knowledge of your mortal presence," Set said. "That is what you wanted, is it not? To learn the ways of the dark, to better protect and control your son? Yama is a dark god, one of the darker by far, and you would do well to be cautious when you come. Such is a necessary risk to see in action the very thing you fear..."

"So, you want to be a sorcerer," she said. "Show me, just what makes you powerful? Is there anything you can do?"
A glint of true mischief twinkled in Tsuwari's eyes as he calmly and innocently walked over to Silverfall. Standing in front of her, he simply bent his head down, touched his horn to her leg with a *ZAP* and a few small sparks, then raised his head again and smiled.

"I'm offering you an opportunity to see how the dark mind works unfettered with the knowledge of your mortal presence,"
"Ah," Rose said in reply. That of course was what she wanted, however, the thought never occurred to her that she would be learning by this way. For some vague reason she pictured as learning it in more of a textbook lecture setting. Then again, these thoughts were coming from one whom graduated high school a year ago.
"Yes it's what I wanted," she replied calmly, hiding smug remarks such as 'just testing you'.

The prickling shock of Tsuwari's energy bolt coursed through Silverfall's body. It was an irritating sensation, but she did not flinch. Her face showed no emotion.
"Now try something different. Concentrate. Close your eyes if you must. I want you to find an object in your mind. The first thing you can think of. Concentrate on that object. Know its color and shape and weight. How it feels and smells and sounds. Say nothing about what it is. Only think it in your mind. When you are certain you have done this and you have a clear impression of it, tap the floor with your hoof three times."

Set continued with Rose.
"Tonight you will meet me at the edge of the woods. The others can keep watch over Tsuwari while we are gone."

(But uh... Yama would know she was there.)

(drama drama drama... hehe ;D)
Tsuwari looked at Silverfall a moment, then closed his eyes. He thought of the big juicy apples he'd seen in an orchard with his mother one day. He pictured the perfectly red shape, slightly curved but not round, with a small brown stem poking out from the crevace in the top. He thought about the tough papery skin and the crunchy, juicy white insides dotted with a few small seeds. He thought about how it felt when he held it in his hoof, and took a bite of it. He tapped his hoof three times.

(*Set elbows Yama in the ribs* Shhh! Try to look inconspicuous! Translation: Yes, I know. *wink, wink* Just play Yama exactly as you would... I'm going to need Glayse around tonight, too.)
Silverfall watched the apple appear in Tsuwari's mind. She stood at the edge of his consciousness, just outside of his detection, as he proceeded to examine its details.
The foal showed much mental promise, even for one so young. She found this concerning, of course, especially since Set was involved now. Still, there wasn't anything she could do, but abide by the god's wishes. Slowly, she crept into Tsuwari's mind, using a technique taught to her by the Mystic when she was but a foal herself.
The apple began to deteriorate. Dark bruises apppeared on its skin as it turned sour and mushy.
"Keep concentrating," she said. "Keep that perfect image in your mind. Fight to keep it no matter what you see."
(I would expect him to succeed sometimes and other times to fail, but if/what/when is your call. So... in this case, I would expect him to succeed at first... maybe find it a little more challenging as Sil pushes him.)

As the apple began to decay before his third eye, Tsuwari, caught off guard, panicked slightly and lost the image for a moment. He frowned as he stubbornly (he IS Rose's son, after all) worked hard to try and at least get the damaged image back. Once the picture became somewhat clear again, he tried to repair the bruises, and managed to get most, but not all of them to disappear.
Eager to learn and follow Silverfall's instructions, the foal stood still and continued concentrating, waiting for her to speak again. If she didn't, he would lose the image soon.

"The apple is a representation of your spiritual self, Tsuwari," Silverfall continued. "When another being approaches your spirit, he can turn your apple into mush. It is times like that, during which you must concentrate to keep your apple whole. This is how you protect your mind from ambush.
"Some beings are tricky, though, and can make you think you're in control when you're not." She pushed quietly into his mind, polishing the apple with her thoughts and making it shine perfectly red like his mother. "Sometimes things are not as they appear, even in our minds." The apple cracked in half and though its skin was perfect, the inside was wriggling with worms. She left this image only a moment and then wiped his mind clear.
"Do you understand?"

Rose nodded, making a mental note of his order. A small childish part of herself felt excited by it all. She got to do something haphazard, 'dress up', and play hide and seek at the same time. Truly this was something that would wet her rebellious side, and it did. Never did it cross her mind that she should be a mother for once and avoid possible injury for Tsuwari. She could stand her own, of course.
Carefully she removed the disguise and set it down gently and in a place she could easily remember and find later. Once that particular topic was discussed, Rose quickly darted her eyes to the nearest window. Tsuwari wasn't in sight, but she forced herself to not worry. It hadn't been the longest she'd been away from him, no, the longest was due to an 8 hour schedule, but she wanted to make sure he was all right, nonetheless.
Oh stop this, you'll probably ruin his concentration. Pressing her lips together with a mix of being indecisive, she looked back to Set to see if he had needed any more of her. Then, looking past him, Rose took notice of the wilted fungus infected rose bush. Her face turned sour.

(Hm... Ok, we'll just keep going.)
For a moment, Set thought Rose was glaring at him, but realized she was looking beyond him. He grumbled inwardly. It wasn't very smart not paying attention, even to something so insignificant. He was a god, after all, and the insignificant could kill an unwary god. He should know better.
He turned to the bush. He struggled momentarily to recall where he had seen it before. Then he realized it was the one he'd been tormenting earlier through his mind. He felt a slight rise of panic. What was causing this great drain on him? This fatigue? Was this a side effect of being yet a lesser god? By the tail of Apis, he needed more power then!
Forcing his spirit to settle down, he looked back at Rose.
"You will fix it?" he asked. He was still curious about Rose's obvious connection to the creative powers. It was...daresay...something a god of light would know a lot about. He brushed this aside, however. He was not interested in the designs of the light gods. He was interested only in how such powers might be of benefit to him in his quest for power.

Tsuwari carefully listened, trying to understand the concepts laid before him. The visual made it clearer, but he still wasn't completely sure he understood what she meant. Once the image was gone from his mind, he opened his sunset-orange eyes and looked at the gray mare before him.
"I think so.. but what if I can't get the apple to come back? What if somebody takes my apple? Do they take my mind too?"

Rose's ear flicked as Set began to speak to her. She only kept half a mind as to what he was actually saying, as she was still more in shock of one of her rose pushes looking like an abomination.
"Uh yeah," she mumbled, all ready more focused on trying to fix it than answering him. The red mare walked slowly past him, as if she were trying to decide a way to approach the problem. Using so much energy that morning, Rose was a bit unsure whether she could rejuvenate her bush. Or if she even could, Rose had never been faced with one of her bushes being like that.
The red unicorn was used to her magical plants coming out right and lasting long, so this was something new to her indeed. Although, above all else Rose hoped that no one noticed just how bad her bush was, it was embarrassing.
Pushing Set, Tsuwari, and all other thoughts aside, Rose closed her eyes and focused for the second time that morning. In her mind she envisioned the rotted bush, and much like Tsuwari's training, Rose began a mental battle fighting the spell that had been cast by Set. It was no easy fight, either.
The image would not transform in her mind easily, and when Rose sensed no progress she didn't retreat from the task. She threw her heart into it instead; stubbornly pushing her own will out through the air about her. Her horn began to shimmer in a small bath of light, which as Rose struggled further began to grow brighter. By the time she began to see the image ebb in the visual aesthetic she desired, she showed stressed physical signs.
The rebellious unicorn continued onward, focusing so hard that she could feel her entire being began to ache. The image continued back and forth, swaying her way and back to Set's, before finally she pushed it completely to a recovered health with one last push of strength. Overtaken with weakness, Rose wobbly stood panting, but proudly gazing at her own accomplishment.
Looking back at Set to say smuggly, "Piece of.....cake..."

"In a way, yes," Silverfall said, making no attempt to prevent him from feeling alarmed. "If you leave a door open in your house, might not anyone come inside? How does your mother keep the bad ponies out at night? She locks the door. You must learn to do the same with your mind. Lock the door and no one can ever take away your apple."
