Set felt the intensity of Rose's concentration and was momentarily surprised that a mare was so strong-willed. Then again, she was aptly named. As she struggled, Set felt a warm sensation traveling up his hocks. She had a defiant heart even in the face of failure. He would have to rethink allowing Glayse have his way with her too soon. At least not until he had gleaned every last scrap of her inner fire for himself.
"Impressive," he said. "Your inexperience in blatant, yet you are willful to the point of success. Why have you never explore this power fully? Why not command it at its fullest?"
(*Set sniffs the air* Mmm... donut. *trails after Rose*)

"Because...," she truthfully huffed out, "I never had a need too."
Waiting just long enough to have some form of breath return to her, Rose felt to further explain to the god. "I'm a gardener, Set. Ponies grow flowers and food for joy, or in the case for food. And growing both makes me happy, all I want is to be able to grow my lot in life and share it with others whom like my work."
The fact that Rose was so strong willed never wedged into her thoughts of gardening. So it was no surprise that she had never combined the two, and besides, what purpose would being strong willed with sprouting flowers have aside winning a flora competition?
"When you get down to it Set, I use my magic to make ends meat. The simple life, living out here away from the town, raising my foal. Aside protecting Tsuwari, there really hasn't been a reason to pursue this."
(*holds it above Set's head and waves it*)

Tsuwari's little brows furrowed as he tired to connect the metaphorical description to reality. Though he was young and imaginative, it would still take him some time to use Silverfall's wisdom and teachings to fruition.
"So I can lock my mind so bad ponies don't hurt it? What else can I do?" He was, after all, a foal, and so had a short attention span.

Set was silent. Mortals were indeed fascinating creatures. Especially Rose. She had power and chose not to exploit it. How silly was that? Living this quiet life? Having power and not using it? What was the point? How could she stand the sight of herself, knowing that she could have been more?
"You're life seems anything but simple, Rose," he said. "Let's hope it keeps up the facade for now." He turned away from her to return to the house. He was still thinking on what she had said.
............................. Silverfall continued with her lesson.
"We all have strengths and weaknesses, Tsuwari. You clearly have some physical power concentrated in your horn, but most magicians don't realize their full power until they are grown.
"Our magic flows through the whole world. It's in everything you see and in everything you can't see. Sometimes if you close your eyes and listen, you can hear it pulsing through the earth. It rises up into our bodies and thrills us and encourages us, but we must never let it take control of us. If we do that, then we lose our purpose."
She wasn't sure he'd understand this concept.
"For me, it's like being out in a storm. The clouds are rolling and the wind is blowing through my hair. The lightning is crackling and the thunder is deep. Any minute, a great gust of wind might sweep me off my feet, but I mustn't let my hooves off the ground. I must hold fast or I could get blown away to who knows where? It's dangerous being swept away to destinations we cannot see, Tsuwari. And even when we think the wind is at our command, it cannot always be trusted to blow straight. It's always best to keep a hoof on the ground."

((lol for some reason, I just thought of Bilbo telling Frodo to stay away from roads in LOTR, "because you never know where you'll be swept off to." *giggles* maybe I should put The Hobbit down for a day or two...)) "We all have strengths and weaknesses, Tsuwari. You clearly have some physical power concentrated in your horn, but most magicians don't realize their full power until they are grown."I guess my weakness is that I'm still small, Tsuwari thought with a small frown, glancing down at his little feathered hooves. But I'll be big someday. Big like the orange pony! His thoughts continued, referencing the image of Glasye that had come and gone in his dreams in the past. "Will I be REALLY powerful someday? And I'll do more than just zap stuff?" The foal asked excitedly, always eager to be reasurred that he would rise to greatness. Good or evil, he didn't know, and more significantly, didn't care. His mother was the only thing he felt a shred of loyalty for. ...It's always best to keep a hoof on the ground." Tsuwari nodded. He knew that even if he didn't entirely understand now, he would someday, and so he would do his best to remember the silver mare's words. He didn't need his mother to remind him that what Silverfall would teach him was important. ((Just a note as to powers, etc... with Glasye, besides just being consumed by evil, he had a way with words and charm (which I see Tsuwari developing as he gets older) as well as kind of a mind-controlling type of thing. It goes hand in hand, I guess you could say, basically getting ponies to do what he wanted through those means. And you know about Rose's powers ))

(Heh. Love LOTR. Yes, Tsuwari's definately got charm! My dog has this power, too. Those cute puppy dog eyes he gets when he knows that he's been naughty... works every time.)
Silverfall sighed and her eyes were thoughtful. She could see the beginnings of power were too strong. It worried her that Tsuwari might come into his own too young. When the young had power, it was a different kind of threat, and very dangerous, because they didn't have the capacity or the desire to control it. Yet she would not deny it.
"Yes," she said. "Likely you will be very powerful. Be careful, though, Tsuwari." She considered her words. "You are vastly inexperienced and can easily hurt yourself. It will do you no good to rush in. If you rush in, you might not see the hole in the ground into which you tumble." As an afterthought, she added. "Where I come from, some holes go on without end."
Silverfall knew all too well the unique challenges facing the ponies of darkness. The temptation of deep magic was often irresistible. It had destroyed many of her comrades. This colt would likely grow into power that succeeded her own and his fate would certainly be tied to it. Already she could see the crossroads he would face, but it was not for her to light the road for him. He would have to find that light within himself.

Rose watched the god calmly, a preplexed look on her face. Set's silence before his answer confused her, as if he wasn't sure how to take her responce to him. Not knowing whether to be proud of this or not, Rose waited a few minutes more to makes sure she had recovered. Then, she followed Set back to the house.

Set walked back into the room with the others.
"Well, what have we learned so far?" he asked, directing his question to Tsuwari.
(lol. I don't think we need to get into it. I think we're ready to jump these characters to this evening? I hope I'm not forgetting anything...)

(Ah, erm, not sure ^_^() Guess I'll make the first jump post, uhm....can't remember, was Silverfall coming with Set or no?)
jump to evening, time for the Set/Yama meeting.
Rose quietly shut Tsuwari's door as best she could. Asleep, or so she hoped. He certainly looked it. With luck, he wouldn't wake up during the time she was away from him. Though she trusted (or more so forced to trust) the others, Rose still didn't like the idea of just leaving him there with them. She knew it was best for him, however, and that at least made it somewhat easier to leave him.
Once outside, she approached the disguise where she'd placed it last and patiently looked about for Set, while placing it on.

Set appeared out of the darkness by Rose's side. "Good, you are ready. Wait here while I instruct the others." He trotted into the house, to where Silverfall (and Delta I assume) were seated in the living room. "Rose and I have business to tend to," he said. "Stay here and keep watch over the boy." In his mind, he added a thought to the presence lingering there. Bring the silver mare to me, when at last you hear my signal tonight. Confuse her and lead her away from here and we shall be that much closer to bringing you home.He returned to Rose. "Come." He trotted into the darkness of the woods. (Cont. Sols Hill). Edit: cuz I almost forgot about Glayse and that would have been silly considering the effort we've gone through to bring him back to life. har har. I'll be quite excited to see him back.

After only a short time sleeping, Tsuwari awoke with a start, in a cold sweat. His little limbs trembled as he looked around his room, disoriented. He couldn't remember what he had dreamed, for the terror of it replaced his short term memory. Something felt wrong, and Tsuwari couldn't think of anything else to do besides...
"MAMA!"
The orange foal called into the darkness with a cracking voice. After not hearing the sound of his mother's hooves touching the floor in the next room, he wriggled out of bed and stood on his covers, "Mama??"
Still shaky, Tsuwari climbed off his bed and nudged open his door, scrambling into the hallway and bursting into Rose's room. "Mama, I--"
But she wasn't there. Tsuwari turned on his heels and walked into the living room, calling for his mother, but not finding her. Did she go outside...?

Silverfall was at the window, keeping watch on the yard. In her eye there was some troubled look. Something foul was ahoof. "Hush, boy," she said softly, without taking her eyes from the nightly scene before her. "Your mother is with Set." Within that pulse, which was the earth's heartbeat, Silverfall felt a strangeness brewing along the veins of magic. She glanced at the foal and to the couch where Delta was sleeping. (At least, I guess she's sleeping. ) "Tsuwari," she said. "I'm going to have a look around outside. You will stay here." It wasn't something to be argued, so she turned away from him and opened the front door. Her aura was met by the icy chill of darkness settling over the land like new snow. Giving a last look back at Tsuwari, she walked out into the yard. Then she slipped into the woods. (Cont. to Sols Hill)
