"You wha...?" He was confused, concerned. What did it mean? Had he been on the ship too? No, Jewel would've mentioned something like that if she said she was on the ship. Then...clearly it meant something off in the future, and not a vision of something happening simultaneously to now. But what?
"Lady luck sure has a strange way of calling, doesn't she," was all he could manage to murmur.

"I think.. I'm going to be going away, Peri," She stated simply. "I don't know why, and that kind of bothers me, but.." She turned to look at him, feeling, knowing that this was accurate to say, "I don't think you're coming with me."
A cry like that of a hawk sounded from above. Jewel looked up to see the silhouette of Amr, soaring in gradually smaller circles down toward the pair of ponies. The silver-black griffin, the size of a large dog, landed gracefully and walked over to the pegasus, flipping its pointed ears back and forward, blinking, trying to figure out what was different about the pegasus. Being a magical creature, he in some way, understood. Also being somewhat perceptive of emotions, at least, Jewel's emotions, he walked over to her, laying at her feet. The sitting pegasus's purple eyes met the amber ones of the griffon as he grasped her foreleg gently with his clawed front feet, and leaned his head against it. She leaned down and nuzzled his feathered head, returning the sentiment.
"Something is coming," She said in an almost restless tone. While Jewel wanted ot know what lay ahead, part of her didn't. Part of her wanted to stay here and now, with Peri, safe in their own world..

Having picked up a few fallen tree branches Roux left them by the make shift dock and headed farther down the bank. Whistling a jaunty sea tune he had picked up somewhere along the way in his travels. The warm earth beneath his hooves was welcomed. It had been near a month’s time since he had set hoof on steady ground. Brown eyes scanned the dusty path before him. Pebbles no bigger than bread crumbs littered the dirt road.
Noticing a little spot where the river had trickled inward Roux went to investigate it. Crouching down he grinned. Mud. Nice thick mud. The kind that was good for patching sheds and mending roofs. Granted he had no bucket with him, but that didn’t worry him. There would be something nearby that would work to get what he needed where he needed it. Nature had a way of providing what you needed at just the right time. For which the stallion was always grateful. If only those land dwellers realized just what they had before them. They too would such treasures as this mud, or as those pearly sea shells he had made into a bracelet for Jewel. A broad smile stretched across his face as he thought of the golden pegasus.
His thoughts interrupted by the sound of wings overhead he glanced up just in time to see Amr fly past. If the griffin was here, than perhaps Jewel was nearby as well. Standing up he began to lope in the direction that Amr had gone. It took only a few yards before he reached a bend in the road. Trees obstructed his view and blocked him from sight. Rounding the bend he let out a surprised gasp. He hadn’t meant to. But than he honestly hadn’t expected after so long to be this close to Jewel. Granted she was a few feet away and with a stallion he didn’t recognize. The thought that the two were together never even entered his head. What crossed his mind was how beautiful Jewel looked and just what a sight he must be. Legs covered in dirt and hooves caked in mud. Rainbow only knew what he had stuck in his tail and mane. What a great first impression back he was going to make.

"Not coming with you...," his breath came out soft and slow, stating it as fact then asking her if it were true. Jewel bringing it up only confirmed his initial guess. It could've meant a number of things, really. If something was brewing, it could possibly be that his attentions were focused in stopping problems elsewhere. Or, possibly, Jewel would be compelled to leave him behind. Maybe, and Peri hoped honestly for neither, they had seperated or he was dead. Both weighed pretty heavy on the 'I don't want to experience' scale.
Shaking his musings and placing the most tender, and supporting faces he could, told her, "I'm sure there's a reason. Whatever it is, it'll be a good one. I mean, the Rainbow has to keep a few secrets, doens't it?"
He shared the sentiment of looking down to Amr and nodding his head in greeting. By now he'd grown used to seeing him come and go.
"Something is coming"
Peri's soft smile turned grim for a split second, like a minor wince, before it returned. He moved a hoof and ruffled her hair dotingly. "If we could survive Eshu, than I'm sure we can manage whatever's thrown at us." A pause in thought.
"Especially know that yours trully is master of scooters," his smile turned into a grin, hopefully one to lighten her mood.

"I'm sure there's a reason. Whatever it is, it'll be a good one. I mean, the Rainbow has to keep a few secrets, doens't it?
Jewel nodded without hesitation, "It's never given us reason to doubt it, and in some way, I do consider it an honor to be chosen as one of its Champions." The mare also had confidence in her combat skills, and growing interest and confidence in this newfound power the Rainbow had granted her.
"If we could survive Eshu, than I'm sure we can manage whatever's thrown at us."
Eshu. The thought of the stallion who had killed her made her skin crawl all over. "He's not gone yet," She said almost in a whisper, under her breath. A small black cloud still drifted over part of her mind regarding the gatekeeper god.
Peri's scooter comment lost the peg's attention as she suddenly felt Roux's presence. She didn't know how she knew, or the likelihood of him really being that near. Jewel stood, taking a few steps and looking around, though she wasn't entirely sure what she expected to see.

Peri's grin faulted as Jewel seemed to completely ignore it. Okay...well, it had been worth a shot. His face fell into a neutral, concerned face. The actor looked down to Amr, as if he'd offer an explanation to her sudden silence, then turned back to the peg.
"What is it, Jewel?"

“Jewel.” His voice was soft, almost as if something from a dream.
She had been a constant in his dreams for so long that Roux didn’t trust his senses. Was it really her? Was he really only a few feet away from her? He swallowed around the lump that had formed in his throat.
“It’s been quite a while.” Roux stated his voice calm as he stepped into view, “How have you been?”

“Jewel.”
The pegasus stopped mid-motion, slowly turning her head toward the sound of the voice whose owner she hadn't fogotten. A small smile involuntarily spread over her features, as well as a faint blush. She too spoke softly, musical voice carrying the words to the stallion, "Roux?"
“It’s been quite a while...How have you been?”
"Yes.. it has," She said, unsure of what to say or do at that moment. A chorus of thoughts rose in her head, ('I didn't know you were leaving' 'why didn't you take me with you' 'I got your gift it was lovely') wanting to be spoken, but she bit her tongue on those topics.
"I.. I've been well," She responded, head tilted slightly down and eyes looking up at the brown stallion.

Peri Winkle turned his head so his real eye could take in Roux's figure. Then, he turned his head so the eye could look at Jewel near him. To Roux, then back to Jewel.
He coughed. "Well, this is suddenly awkward."
What else was he to say? Here was another stallion, a fine strong one too he added, that knew Jewel, and she him. Peri did feel a stiring flicker of jealousy brewing, but he was an actor and contained the emotion well. However, Roux hadn't presented much of a problem yet.
Peri closed the gap between himself and Jewel and stood next to her. "You okay?" He made in refrence to this new addition. She was, after all, quite upset. Jewel might not be in need of company from others at that moment.

Tense muscles relaxed as a calm washed over the light brown stallion. A contented smile tugged at the corners of his mouth as he moved a step closer. The red highlights the Rainbow of Light had left in his hair began to grow brighter, almost instantly so upon coming in contact with Jewel. That touch of the rainbow that had been left within him knew and it made no attempts at hiding that it knew either.
“I’m glad.” Glancing down at the griffin Roux chuckled softly, “And I see Amr is well too.”
The thought to touch the great creature’s head was a tempting one, but the earthling restrained himself. He hadn’t been around in so long that there was no telling if Amr would allow him the privilege.
Dipping his head towards the white stallion he stated, “I’m Roux. Don’t believe I’ve seen you around before. Though I suppose there are quite a few I don’t know here now.”
Silently Roux cursed himself for staying away so long. That was one of the great disadvantages to being a gypsy. Towns were always changing and there was never a guarantee as to who would still be living in them the next time he happened through.

Without question or thought, the soap star returned the gesture with a mirror of it. Half of Peri was actually quite intrigued with the accent of the other (he did have an accent, right?). It was the actor side of him that was drawn to it, off handedly he noted to attempt replicating the accent for future projects.
"I'm Peri Winkle, you can call me Peri.," he offered, "I've been in Ponyville about six years now. Work for the most part keeps me occupied."
It was no lie. Since he'd met Jewel, it seemed any and all free time had gone towards their developing relationship. More than once it'd threatened his job, as Peri had a slowly growing habit of studying his scripts less and less. Still, somehow he always managed to stay on the pay roll. The actor suspected it may have been due to a large fan base, though honestly he tried to avoid looking into the numbers that follow him.
Curiously he continued to watch with his eye. His career trained him in observation. What Peri observed was the tension that was certain to grow, as well as the glowing of Roux's mane. Peri was no fool. He'd lived with Kail for sometime at the nursery after the castle's demise. It was easy to distinguish the champions of that summer, he'd seen the signs in Kail, in Razz when he was with her.....
Jewel had mentioned being gifted by the Rainbow, and a knotted ball of concern bagan to knott in his stomach. Her earlier statements of leaving on a ship with out him hadn't quite hit him yet, but now..... Suddenly Peri Winkle was beginning to feel left out. Jewel was right, something was coming.
"Jewel? Are you ok?," he reiterated himself, his face of stark concern.

“And I see Amr is well too.”
The griffin, who had grown a considerable amount, slowly stepped toward Roux, looking at him straight in the eye. After a mysterious moment, he walked up to the stallion and playfully butted his head against the larger pony's shoulder. He cooed deep in his throat, almost like a birdlike purr. It was unlikely, even given the tense nature of the moment, that anyone would be able to lie in his presence, seeing as he WAS a griffin.
"Jewel? Are you ok?,"
"Yes," She said softly, almost a little lost in her own mind, "I'm fine." Jewel glanced at Peri, then back to Roux. The pegasus slowly stepped forward, nudging Roux's glowing mane with her nose. The feeling felt familiar, the slighlty electric humm, that energy of the Rainbow. She stepped back and tossed aside her mane from her forehead, "It chose me too," The mare said, as the symbol on her forehead glowed dimly against her golden coat.
Roux's scent still lingered in the pegasus's nostrils. Suddenly, Jewel froze, eyes glazed over and staring into space. Visions overtook her mind's eye in the image of sick and dying ponies.
Dirty streets with weak, staggering ponies aimlessly wandering, dying, screams of pain and suffering. Darkened skies, air thick with the smell of death and decay. A white stallion, dingy and dirty, discharge coming out his nostrils and eyes nearly squinted shut tripped in the street and began to fall, his jeweled symbol not even catching the light.
Jewel's breath came slow and slightly labored as she allowed the vision to stay, instead of pushing it away like the last. She was still getting used to her powers, and the visions weren't entirely clear yet.

Peri burned slight jelousy inside at Jewel familarity with Roux. She so casually had touched his mane, and her words were enough to conferm his earlier suspicions. Plus, it appeared he was either starting to look too much into things, or this would propose some sort of problem.
However, once Jewel had suddenly tensed up and froze, starring vacantly, it was enough to push all negative thoughts aside to make room for another wave of concern. His eyes widened as a result, and he had to catch the glass eye as it began to fall out in result. "Jewel?"

A smile tugged at the left corner of his mouth as Peri Winkle's voice took on a distinct Irish accent. It had been long since he had heard another with that accent in his travels. Either the stallion had an ear for mimicking accents or he truly was from the land of the gypsy's birth.
Both surprised and delighted by the sudden head butt to his shoulder Roux chuckled softly. He would have asked Amr if he had given Jewel the gift, but deep down the stallion knew the answer. Amr wasn't going to forget or lose it somewhere. The light brown earthling had no doubt in his mind that the golden pegasus had received the shell bracelet. No she wasn't wearing it. But than why should she be? An ever-constant reminder of the one who had left without a good-bye. That was something he would ask of no creature, let alone someone as precious as Jewel.
Roux was less than surprised by this revelation. Somehow it seemed fitting for the rainbow to come to Jewel. But wait. The rainbow had gifted Jewel. Why? Was some new evil coming? Roux tensed. Why else would the rainbow choose another? Especially in what appeared to the outsider as a time of peace. Something must have been brewing and the stallion wondered what it was.
Voicing a few of his questions out loud Roux dared to ask, "The others from that summer that the rainbow touched, are they dead?" Truly he feared they must be for what other reason was there for the rainbow to choose new ponies to help it? "What has happened to cause the rainbow to seek new ponies? The dark rainbow hasn't been freed has it?"
The questions stopped as suddenly as they had started. Roux stood motionless watching Jewel. The look on her face was one he had seen before. The gift the rainbow had given her was a heavy one to bear.

The golden pegasus's head hung slightly as the visions faded away. She was relieved to see Roux and Peri still standing before her, as well as the large amber eyes of the griffin staring worriedly. As soon as her mind cleared, the mare swung her neck around so that she could see the town in the distance. She stared at the far away buildings, putting everything together in her mind. This was, indeed, very serious.
Jewel closed her eyes for a moment and took in a deep breath, releasing it as steadily as she could manage. With the smallest bit of a tremor in her voice, she looked from Roux to Peri.
"Something.. something really bad is coming," She said as composed as one who had just seen such a vision could. "Some kind of.. sickness. It swept over the town and ponies were just.. dropping in the streets..."
The mare turned to look at Peri with her mouth open to speak, but no words came out. A pained expression showed in her eyes, much as she tried to hide it on her face.
