Onward, the red unicorn bounded, her body moving with great effort. How long had she been chased? Rose couldn't recall how much time had passed. It was all too much of a great blur.
She knew it had to have been long enough to make her legs ache as much as they did. It was as if her muscles screamed piercingly at her to stop for air, but Rose dared not. She couldn't. If she stopped then, she would stop for good to fight. And Rose didn't know if she had the strength to fight, at least, not that. She wasn't quite ready to admit that no matter how hard she may rebelliously fight, she'd probably loose.
It was then, just in the corner of her eye did she see just a scrape of orange. Glayse?!
However, her accusation was quickly put to rest as the orange proved to be that of her foal. The fear Rose had felt those past moments, running from what may have been death, had seemed like pinpricks at the sudden prospect her child was so near harm. A new strength filled her, and Rose began to push her muscles harder than before.
"Tsuwari!!," her voice was shrilly high, "Run Tsuwari!!" Tsuwari ran, but to Rose's dismay and rising horror, he ran closer towards her. She hadn't slowed by the time he had reached her and turned bravely around to face the shadowy figure of Yama.
Rose's legs pounded to a grinding halt, her body spinning back around in seeming reflex. Thoughts didn't pass through her reeling brain, all she did was act. Thus she rushed back towards her child, abruptly halting in front of him, horn a glow, jaw in a clenching sneer, nostrils wide as her body heaved in a whoosh of air. With the look only a determined mother would give, she stared down the approaching beast and unfurled a war like cry.

The shadowy spectre was an inky blur. It whirled and circled them, herding them together within the eye of its movement until both were caught up in its turning. Its laughter was the sound of autumn leaves underfoot.
Youuuuu....willlll.....diiieeeeeeee....
It was no more than a haunting whisper.

"NO I WON'T!!" Tsuwari writhed and kicked at the shadow, orange horn glowing in the dark. His usually sweet little face was contorted into a teeth-baring, squinted-eye scowl. "YOU WON'T HURT HER! I WON'T LET YOU!"

( My brother is getting married tomorrow and I'm leaving for Disney on Saturday, so I'm going to try and get my characters on the sidelines rather quickly here...) Set's spell had just about spun itself out when Tsuwari began his little rampage. It wavered and sputtered and popped, fizzing around like a burst balloon. It came to rest on the ground like a large, black cloak and fluttered in the breeze. Then it took on the heaviness of thick sap and bled into the earth until nothing was left. Youuuuu....willllll....diieeeeeee....Barely audible, the voice still mocked and threatened them. Youuuuu....diieeeeeee....It, too, faded until nothing was left.

Rose looked completely taken aback as the sudden form of Yama seemed to seep into the earth below them. A large shudder ran down her spine, as if she could feel the darkness permeate the soil she herself was so accustomed with.
It was too easy. If Rose wasn't still on her adrenaline high, maybe her thoughts would have put two and two together. Tsuwari had easily fought back Yama, if her foal could do it, why hadn't she? Alas, it would never cross her mind.
The red mare let out a disheveled sigh, her breathing still fast, but slowing in time. Despite the humid summer heat, Rose felt extremely cold, perhaps a lingering affect of the illusion. Weakly, her legs began to tremble with exhaustion. No... I can't rest. I have to take Tsuwari home now.
Without so much as speaking to Tsuwari, she scooped him up in her arms and began to move back towards the sounds of Rainbow River. She took extra care as to take the longer winding route of the trees instead of blindly following the river in plain sight. Gods were about, and Rose wouldn't dare take the risk of letting them within inches of her foal.

"Mama, did you see?" Tsuwari asked tiredly, "Did you see? I didn't let him get you this time. I.. I got him. I got him!" The little orange-red foal rambled on, almost to the point of nonsense. Despite how tired he was and how much he had been through in the past few days, Tsuwari was proud he had defeated such a big enemy. Maybe he didn't need Silverfall to teach him after all...

"See that it is done," Set said, nodding to Silverfall. "We eagerly await your return." He turned to Yama. "Fetch me the bodies of... well, I don't care. Glayse might be particular, though. Ask him if you want."
(Jewel, you can take over Notepad/Petunia since I'll be gone. Kill them off and bring back whichever one you want for Glayse. I'm going to write about Sil's trip home, but maybe not until I get back. I'm running out of time here to pack. haha. My brother is officially hitched now, tho. ;D If you get far enough with the story, you can bring Glayse's spirit back whenever you want. I'll catch up later and nothing significant has to happen when Sil releases Glayse. You might say he rushed right past her to come back to Ponyville without even stopping to say thanks. Set will be lurking...)
The wind blew beneath Set's feet and picked him up. Then it rustled around Silverfall and picked her up as well.
"Perhaps you need a lift?" the god asked.
And then they were gone.

"Mama, did you see? Did you see? I didn't let him get you this time. I.. I got him. I got him!"
Rose had barely heard her foal, despite the excitement in his voice. Her mind was too focused on sensing any more dangers trying to seek them out. She knew she should have returned abruptly to Set, but he had done well to strain that Tsuwari had to stay far from Yama. It would seem that was more important on more than one level to Rose, than it would to try and learn how the evil mind worked.
However, Tsuwari's actions had worried her to death. He could've been killed! It would've been her fault, all her fault. She'd never be able to forgive herself if anything happened to him, ever.
"Please, Tsuwari, keep your voice down.," she murmured softly to him, gently nuzzling his cheek. It was comforting, feeling how happy he was, how unafraid he seemed to be, that reckless form of youth. Now she knew why her parents kept such a strong eye on her own rebellious actions, that recklessness was bound to cause trouble.
(erm, wanna head back to the house?)

"Please, Tsuwari, keep your voice down.,"
"Yes, Mama.." Tsuwari responded quietly, stifling a yawn. Slightly worried by her alertness, the foal glanced around at the surrounding darkness, partially afraid of what lurked within, and partially ready to jump at another chance to "save" his mother, as he thought he had.
"Mama," The orange-red foal whispered, "I'm gonna be a real big strong stallion someday.. I am.. just like," he yawned and rested his chin against his mother, "..the orange pony..."
(sure!)

Hearing this for the second time in two days worried her. Deep down, this was the last thing she wanted to here, or encourage. Sure, she trully had a thing for Glayse, but that was the last thing she wanted Tsuwari to become. Quickly, she reminded herself that Set was to help prevent this to happen, Rose had no reason to be upset.
"Yes, one day," she murmrued to him, trying to to upset him in the slightest. In the distance she could see her house, her pace quickened into she was in doors.

(sorry for my lateness. Yama will git on down to pnoyville square.)
Yama grinned. It had been so long since he had last killed... He had to go now, he couldn't hold himself back any longer. He turned and galloped towards the town in search of a body.
