The Nursery door creaked open as the silhouette of a hooded figure stood in the doorway surrounded by drizzling rain. An occaisional crack of thunder echoed in the distance as the storm drew further from Ponyville, and the clouds began to thin. The air was slightly muggy, seeming to stick to everything it touched, but there was a cool crispness all the same. On three feathered hooves, the figure moved into the nursery, holding something bulky in his retracted leg. Bending his neck, he used his nose to push the door closed, shutting out the dismal weather.
Until the hood from his cloak had been flipped back, all that could be seen was a purple nose sticking out. Now that he was revealed, a plum-colored coat was easily seen, along with dark purple hair and piercing emerald eyes. In one leg, he held a small series of books, all bound together by what looked like a leather belt. They had previously been hidden under the protection of his cloak.
"Hello?" Kimono called into the hollows of the nursery, hoping to find someone in charge. He shifted his weight, waiting for someone to emerge.

Lilia, who was in the kitchen, heard a door opening and closing. She looked around for a sharp object, but, finding none, figured hooves and teeth would have to do.
"Hello?"
Lily peeked into the room the stallion was in, but quickly emerged fully, still on her guard, saying, "I'm telling you, there's nothing in here worth stealing, unless you really want a bunch of kids toys and cookies."

"I beg your pardon?" Kimono responded, caught off guard by Lilia's defense, "Oh, no no.. I'm no theif." The purple stallion manuvered his legs so he could set his burdensome books on the floor and stand on all four legs. He realized with dismay as he leaned forward that he had left a noticible trail of water from the rain outside. "I'm sorry to bother you, but I'm in desperate need of a place to stay... my name is Kimono, and I used to live in the Celebration Castle." He bowed his head in a gentlemanly fashion to the mare who had yet to introduce herself.

(con't from kitchen thread)
Silence came out behind Lily looking rather emotionless. He stood behind her and poked his little head out to the side to see if what stood before them was dangerous. It was a stallion. By the looks of the plum pony, he didn't look at all dangerous or that he had any intensions of hurting them.
The foal flapped his little wings and flew up to Kimono and stood right in front of him, not loking afraid at all, but more curious than anything. He tilted his head at the tall purple stallion. He wanted to say hello. Any kind of greating would suit him really, but of course he was mute.

"Oh, well, hello there," Kimono smiled kindly to the white foal who had seemingly come to greet him. Or otherwise, to scrutinize him. Kimono never considered himself gifted with foals.. as a pony who grew up too fast, he matured early and lost much of his ability to relate to younger ponies. He never even willingly babysat anymore. Unfortunately, it seemed to him as if most of his youth had passed him by, though he was still young yet. One could almost argue that he was still a foal inside, but only through his passion for books and stories.
The plum-colored stallion leaned his head down slightly to get a better look at the unique foal. "What's your name, little guy?"

Lilia relaxed a little. "Oh, sorry," she murmered, quite embarassed. "It's just I'm the only one here, with the foal here. I don't think he can talk. I mean, I think he's gotten used to me, but he still hasn't said what his name is."

"Oh, is that so?" Kimono asked, glancing again at the little white foal. The stallion would have guessed then that he must be shy, but the foal displayed no reluctancy to come right up to him. Then perhaps it IS that he can't speak, poor guy.. Kimono thought. Any other time, he probably would have more or less ignored the foal and went about speaking to another, older pony, but something struck him about this little one. Kimono leaned down to speak to him again, "You know, there are ways of saying things without speaking," He said in a matter-of-fact way, "Try using that," He motioned to the foal's little hoof, trying to indicate that he could use it to wave a greeting if he chose to.
Turning back to Lilia, Kimono cleared his throat, "If it's not of any burden to the household.. might there be a room I can stay in for at least a short time?" He asked, hiding his desperation. As he spoke, droplets of rain fell from his purple locks and gathered around his feet.

Lily sighed. "I'm afraid I can't help you, sir. You see, I just came here to clean the colt up; he fell in a puddle and was covered from head to hoof in mud," she said. "I'm Lilia, by the way, but mostly everyone calls me Lily." A lock of black-as-night mane fell in her face, but she hurriedly flicked it away. The ends on her hair were wet still, from her and Silence running through the rain to get to the Nursery. Lily blushed, realizing she was being rude by not inviting the stallion in. "Oh, I'm sorry, would you like to come in?"

"You know, there are ways of saying things without speaking," He said in a matter-of-fact way, "Try using that," He motioned to the foal's little hoof, trying to indicate that he could use it to wave a greeting if he chose to.
Silence looked at his hoof. What was the stallion talking about? He looked underneith it to see if something was there, but there was nothing, only floor. He looked back up at Kimono with a tilted head and cocked ears. He was quite puzzled.
Oh I get it! He realized. He stamped his little hoof once on the wooden floor beaming. He smiled up at Kimono, hoping that was what he meant.

"It's nice to meet you, Lily," Kimono politely extended a hoof in greeting. When asked if he'd like to come in, Kimono looked somewhat confused--he was already inside, wasn't he. Perhaps she meant further inside? He looked back at her, "Pardon?"
The purple stallion had to hold back an amused chuckle as the foal figured out what he had meant. When Silence looked up at him, he gave him a smile and said, "There you go!" before touching his big feathered hoof to the ground twice in response.
"He's a smart little one, isn't he?" Kimono commented to Lilia.

Lily's blush went darker. "I meant to, um, ask if you wanted to come and, er, sit down. Or something. Like that." Oh, Great Rainbows! she thought. I'm such a freaking nerd. Not to mention I'll never get a date the way I'm heading.

Kimono smiled, "I'd love to, thank you." As far as he was concerned, politeness could take a pony far in the world, especially when a place to stay was at stake. He didn't doubt the hospitality of Ponyville's residents, but all the same, he'd prefer not sleeping outside.
Again.
For a moment, his thoughts drifted back to his life at the castle. He had been so happy there.. just him and his study full of books. Things were peaceful and quiet... and lonely. Days at a time would pass without seeing another pony. Sometimes weeks. Then the battle came, and his world was literally buried in rubble, his home destroyed. The few books he had pulled out of the wreckage were his only possessions now. He had stayed a brief time with Kira, but things fell apart. Now here he was, a nomad, drifting without a sense of place or purpose. He had happiness before all this. Or did he?
Kimono picked up his burdensome books and waited for a cue from Lilia to follow her somewhere into the Nursery.
"This may just be me, but aren't there usually more foals here?" He asked curiously, "It seems rather empty."

Lily spun around, to face the kitchen, then set off towards a very inviting table. "Oh, all the foals are at the Cafe. They were there for treats. I just had to come here to clean the colt up."
When they reached the table, the teal-coloured mare pulled out a chair for Kimono, sat down at a different one, and beckoned for Silence to flutter into her lap.

The colt giggled silently to himself when Kimono had commented about how smart he was. The stranger was so nice, but then again, Silence ignorantly belived that all ponies were nice and kind which he's find out later in life that that was nothing from the truth.
His ears pricked as he heard footsteps behind him and he turned around. Lily was walking into the kitchen, When she sat in his chair and mationed for him to come and sit with her he spread his wings and flew over and sat in her lap as content as a housecat. One of his feathers fell off his left wing and floated in the air for a moment, landing on Kimono's nose.

"Ah.. I see," Kimono responded. I wonder just how many foals they have here, he thought as he began to make his way into the kitchen where Lilia had gone. The white pegasus foal followed soon after. One of Silence's little white feathers tickled him as it landed on his nose, somehow lost in mid-flight. Quietly and discreetly, the purple stallion tucked the feather away in his cloak. Pegasus feathers could be very valuable sometimes, though not nearly as much as say. a unicorn's horn, for example. As far as Kimono was concerned, anything he could get for free and use to his advantage later was worth making a little effort over.
Soon the cloaked figure was seated with the others, his books resting on the table before him. Clearing his throat, he turned his attention to Lilia, "Who runs this place, exactly? I mean, who is in charge?"
