Tsuwari squirmed, then turned in Rose's hold, "What did he mean 'evil', Mama? I'm not evil and you're not evil either"!
"Never. EVER. EVER. Try that again."
The troublesome stallion coughed, the impact forcing air from his lungs. Once Peri let go of him, he stumbled away, disappearing behind the side of the building, favoring a sore shoulder.

Peri growled at the stallion's retreating form, angry, but on some level gratified of the experience. With a snort and a shake of his mane, and many repeats of the gestures, did the actor manage to shake the anger out of his system? If he were nearing an intoxication level up to the point the other stallion was, being angry in it was the last thing anyone wanted.
Besides, Peri came here to drink his sorrow away, darn it. Anger was not sorrow.
He stepped back into the cafe, noticing barely that the other customers were nervously involved with idle chat. This for the most part was ignored and he made his way back to Kimono's side. A glance to Rose and the question followed, "You ok?"
Rose nodded absently, collecting her scattered wits. All this time she kept telling herself these things would happen. That she would have to protect Tsuwari when they did. And what had she done? She'd blanked. Rose had fought evil stripes of the dark rainbow, challenged Piston, and she froze to some drunkard?
Rose grit down on her teeth, feeling suddenly ashamed of herself. Quietly she picked herself back up from the ground and to sit back on the stool, if not shakily.
"What did he mean 'evil', Mama? I'm not evil and you're not evil either!"
"He was just drunk Tsuwari," she whispered into his ear, "Ponies say things they don't mean when they're drunk."
It wasn't entirely a lie...she just concealed the truth some.
Nuzzling the orange unicorn in her lap, Rose darted purple eyes to Kimono and Peri with a pleading glint. It was a call for help.

"Ponies say things they don't mean when they're drunk."
"But it's not just him, Mama," Tsuwari tried to whisper back despite the passion of his voice, "Other ponies do it too, they say things, some don't let their foals play with me. Why?"
Tsuwari prattled on, asking questions that had lay dormant in his mind for quite some time now. He had seen and heard enough to know that something wasn't right. But his mother wouldn't hide anything from him.. would she?
Kimono, observant as he was, caught Rose's cue and paid the bartender the tab for his drink. "I think it's about time we got going.. it's been a long day."

Peri nodded gruffly to Kimono, dropping a few bills on the counter too. His blue, green eye met with Rose's purples ones. So easily he read the pain, the uncertainty, the pleading inside them. It made him feel queasy at the tension. Or maybe that was the drinks.
"Tsuwari...," Rose murmured, her voice cracking with the threat of the prickling coinciding with tears. "Please not now..."
Peri couldn't take it, he plucked the orange foal from his mother's grasp. "All right squirt, I think your ma's had enough excitement for today."
The actor didn't want to. He was a festering mess of bitterness and sorrow that moment. Earlier he had argued alongside Jewel with Rose and Glayse. He was supposed to keep up the ideal that what Rose was doing was wrong...
But hell, the look on Rose's face was too much for him, and her colt? He hadn't known a thing about his heritage?
Jewel had promised Tsuwari would never come in harms way if he never followed in his father's footsteps. He felt obligated to take it upon himself to see to the matter.
"Look, I don't know if I can fight off anymore of those rough guys on the way back to your ma's, so you'll have to take the lead.," Peri offered a distraction to the foal's questions.
Rose slipped off her stool, fumbling in her purse to pay for their meals. Her bills like the stallions were also dropped on the counter. But she almost seemed to be on auto-pilot, her mind racing at the desperateness behind Tsuwari's inquiries.
She gave a silent, mechanical nod to Peri's words, as if to given him permission to go ahead with what he said.

"Look, I don't know if I can fight off anymore of those rough guys on the way back to your ma's, so you'll have to take the lead.,"
"I can! I can do it!" The small foal wriggled excitedly in Peri's grasp. "I already have too! See there was this big bad pony and it was gonna get her and I was all like GRRR and he went away! Do you remember, Mama? ...Mama?"
As Tsuwari had turned to look back at his mother, Kimono had stepped between them, so that Rose needn't worry about her displayed distress in front of her foal.
"..Anyway, he was all big and bad and I made him leave us alone!"
Kimono turned his head to cough, trembling slightly as he did. "I'd love to offer to walk you home, Rose," He sniffed loudly, "But I'm afraid it'll be all I can manage to get this drunkard over here back to his place." Along with his health, much of the stallion's eloquence and shyness had deteriorated.

Rose looked distantly up to Kimono, so near to her in protective cover. For a moment she was silent, allowing the time for his words to set in completely. Finally, she murmured, "Yes...I-I understand."
Swallowing, trying to regain any dignity left from the scene that was created, Rose made certain to follow directly after Peri Winkle and Tsuwari, and never looking back.
Distantly she noted that Peri seemed to know which direction they were headed. At best she knew Peri had known the route to Rainbow River. From there she could navigate. The thought didn't occur to her that the heart broken actor might be too drunk to navigate. And Peri wasn't. Not yet.
The white stallion was merely toasty, though his mood clearly didn't reflect this. He wouldn't deny he was angsty, but even now it took a back seat just to assure that the innocent party (innocent? It was still so hard to believe that the mother of Glayse's child was innocent, not to even start on Tsuwari) made it home safely.
"Tell me more about that pony you fought." Peri mumbled out, herding him along in front of him, keeping the distance between mother and child. "I'd love to hear all about it..."

OOC: And five months later ... ^^;
He smiled to himself at the foaling's eagerness and naivete, but resisted anything further. Intrusion of the green stallion, among the quiet tension that the blue stallion raised left Ice Crystal pensive. Curious, but pensive. His tea (ordered at Kimono's example) had also gone largely untouched, though it was enjoyed for which few moments were not interrupted.
Noticing the others having had taken their leave, he smiled at the bartender, and quietly padded out of the bar ...
