The white stallion moved his real eye to look, and was quite astounded, by Jewel's building skills. It was obviously apparent for anyone glancing at him head on to see something was off about his eyes looking in different directions.
Peri Winkle had never been all that capable of building many things, especially out of flimsy materials, and normally didn't push himself to try it. He was almost certain though that this lack of ability was due to the error in his depth perception as a result of his missing eye.
As he continued to watch intently, Peri discovered that he was holding his breath, as if the tinniest breeze would send Jewel's building toppling over.

Carefully and with somewhat devoted concentration, Jewel set the sugar packets against each other and atop one another, with the effect of making a tower. It was soon about ten packets tall.
Glancing through a hole made by two packets leaned against each other, the golden pegasus' purple eyes met the blue one who looked back at her. She smiled and blushed, then playfully hid behind her creation, peeking up at him through a hole with one eye. Her right ear swiveled around.

Peri watched with an eye looking for detail, and eventually his eye travled to Jewel's. His eyes met hers for just a brief moment, before her yellow face turned a small shade of red. Peri's ears swirvled foreward, and he tried to inhale, finding it impossible as he was still holding his breath. Instead, it caused a coughing fit. Oh no! The tower!

"Oh!" Jewel's shy playful face soon turned to that of surprise as her tower collapsed before her eyes. Blinking a few times, she looked at the wreckage, then up at Peri. She laughed good-naturedly, shaking her head.
"Do you always cause this much trouble wherever you go?" She asked with a grin, flicking a packet at him.

"Yes," he said with a guilty, yet grinning happily, look. "You could see I have that sort of streak about me." He raised his eyebrows twice in a dramatical flirt.
Not sawing another word, he sipped the last of his drink, savoring the last drop.

"You seem to have quite a rainbow of a personality," The golden pegasus grinned slyly in response to his comment about having a "streak", raising an eyebrow. She held his gaze for a moment before resuming her cleanup of the scattered sugar packets.

Tyr reattached his leg and snagged one of the scattered sugar packets. He tore it open and upended it on his tounge in surprisingly juvenile fashion. "I must say, sugar was one of the finest discoveries ever made....not to knock writing or anything, but writing doesn't taste as good." He then eyed the flirting pair and mumbled something about smelling chai somewhere and wandered off to find out who had such good taste.

Star Catcher watched the two flirting and decided to get out of there before it became rather heated.
"I, uh... better go now...." He mumbled. He stood up with a scrape of a chair and left the cafe.

The trip into town had been a slow one for the gypsy. Each step had proven harder than the last as he moved farther away from the river. Something like an ache gnawed at his heart. Throwing a glance over one shoulder, he could just make out the glistening blue water and the small boat bobbing, tugging on the rope that held it in place. It to longed to follow the river once again. The time had come for Roux to move on and he knew it. Deep within him he had known for sometime, yet he had tried to stay, tried to ignore everything he had always been to stay, if only for a little longer. That little longer though was now at an end. He had to leave before the river broke his heart, like it had others. He had seen what could happen when the call of the river was ignored. To suffer so all for the sake of ‘love’ or ‘happiness’, only to have the river you had known all your life turn its back on you, leaving you to wallow in agony when you realized all too late that you never should have betrayed it.
Brown eyes glanced down as the worn dirt path turned into a paved road. Earrings jingled as an ear flicked, swiveling about to listen to the ponies as he passed.
Coming to a stop in front of the Café he glanced inside. The one he wanted to say good-bye to was sitting at a booth, talking with others and looking as though she was having a good time. Spoil it? No, how could he. After all he had never said good-bye to anyone else before. Why start now? What made this one so different from all the others? Yet the stallion hesitated. Go in for a moment or leave without a word?
Turning he began to walk away from the pink building. His eyes caught sight of something glittering in the sunlight. A pair of wings, he knew those wings. The griffin. The one Jewel had raised. A smile tugged at the corner of his mouth as he clicked his tongue, urging him to come just a little closer. Better to leave the small package with him than at her home. Clutching the small package in one hoof, the brown paper crinkled as he made a motion as though he was about to toss it to the majestic creature. He waited a moment so that the griffin would know he was going to toss it for him to catch. With a well aimed toss, he watched just long enough to see the package caught.
“Make sure she gets it.” Roux stated his voice soft a hint of something lingering in it, but what one could not quite make out.
Turning quickly on his heels the brown stallion made his way back to the river, his river where his boat waited to carry him away. Stealing one last look over his shoulder, he was glad at least that the town had settled down and was peaceful once again. If only he had known what was to come, he would have stayed, letting the river tear his heart apart and eating at his very soul until he could stand it no longer and died. Unaware as he was though, he left to return another day. Hoping that the golden pegasus would like the bracelet made of small pearly seashells he had left for her.

"Quite," Peri said with a mild grin. The stallion couldn't recall how much fun he had flirting with another mare in some time. Least not with other actresses that hadn't been scripted. It was entertaining to him to actually try it with improv for once.
The soap star had to also admit that Jewel wasn't that bad to look at either. He couldn't tell that much during their first encounter in winter, but in the day Peri Winkle could see just how pretty she was. Am I, dare I say, smitten?
He winked his glass eye, as his true eye caught sight of the huge party of children heading in with rain slickers (see Becka's thread). Seeing all the tikes brought back the odd fun he had living at the nursery during those months. I wonder how Kailani and Sister Swirl are holding up on their funds...they hardly brought the entire group out like this.

With a similar expression as someone remembering an important thing forgotten, Jewel's head suddenly jerked up, purple eyes staring toward the front of the cafe. A familiar sensation rose into her chest as she glanced around for whatever could have brought on that feeling. Scanning the crowd of mostly unfamiliar faces, she found none she knew besides those closest to her. She could have sworn someone of importance to her was amidst those strange faces, or something else significant. Yet nothing was there. Nothing she knew of at least.
Her gaze drifting to the window, she noticed the silver upside-down head of her griffin companion, Amr. He was perched atop the cafe awning, leaning over so he could see her. Opening his beak, he let out a shrill cry, showing his tongue in the process. Amber-colored eyes blinked a few times, looked away, then looked back at the golden pegasus. Amr kept her gaze until she nodded to him, and he disappeared to the rooftops again.
I wonder what's going on... Jewel thought in a very mild panic, Something slipping away...?
Mouth open in hesitation, Jewel spoke to the others, "I--uh--I need to go. Excuse me," She gave Peri a stressed smile and a wink, then hurriedly left the Cafe.
Outside and around the corner, Jewel whistled to the silver half-bird, who glided down to her, a small package in his claws. Obligingly, he handed it to her. Slightly confused and intolerably curious, Jewel opened it, heart skipping a beat as she held the bracelet. Staring at the griffin and knowing he wouldn't let her lie, she tried to speak.
This is from you She couldn't say it. This is from... Peri? No good.
"This is from Roux," The words rolled off her tongue. Amr blinked and bowed his head a little to scratch an ear. He looked toward the river. Jewel's feet danced nervously, "He's.. he's leaving, isn't he?" She said to herself. Despite knowing that by the time she got there, it might be too late, the pegasus galloped through town, then leapt into the air and flew for the Rainbow River.

Peri stood abruptly about ready to follow her. But he could see a glint of worry on her face and paused in contemplation. He had only had one flirty conversation with her, so he knew that he really didn't know her deeply on any level. Being in his 30s, he'd seen enough mares get angry over a stallion chasing after them like that trying to "solve their problems". Peri decided that it would probably be best to let Jewel go about what she needed to do, and if she needed to talk to him, he was all ears.
His blue eye looked in Willow's direction. Nodding a farewell, he left his booth to see the foals.
